Anybody wanna tell him who else is making more money than his brother in law?

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I doubt very many of Eli’s players are actually making more than a pediatrician. Now, the teams he plays in conference, that’s a different story.

Actually and unfortunately, he’s right. Pediatricians are close to the least compensated physicians in the country. Some of them barely earn six figures, so there are plenty of college kids making more than them. But sometimes markets create outcomes that appear odd or “unfair” to some. Just how it works. And Drink’s salary is exhibit A in this regard.

At least the brother-in-law can (hopefully) say he’s “doin it for the kids” with a straight face…

Some of you wonder why I call these guys overpaid PE teachers? A dumbass comment like this is exactly why.

Imagine Smart saying something as stupid as some of these guys. Georgia’s had a pretty good run of relatively intelligent coaches.

Academia has always resented athletics. As Bear Bryant said, maybe it isn’t the way it ought to be but you just aren’t going to get 80,000 people pay to watch some kid a chemistry test

Drinkwitz makes $6,000,000 per year. The average pediatrician in Missouri makes $161,000 according to zip recruiter.
I knew Drinkwitz has a relatively shitty record at. Missouri. I didn’t realize he is a complete dumbass.
Of course all things are relative. Dumbass as he is he isn’t as dumb as the Missouri administrators who just renewed his contract with a raise

So he makes $1M per win.

ROFL. Being a well-informed college football fan is a definite social positive, in that it forces us to ask basic, non-ideological questions like “how do markets work” and “should workers be fairly compensated for their labor” that we otherwise would never pause to think about. Thanks Eli!

realitycheckhere, is that correct? That sucks and you have to live in Missouri. That also sucks.

That was what was reported on zip recruiter. Average pediatrician compensation nationwide is just under $185,000. It is one of the lower paying physician specialties but I am not able to vouch for zip recruiter’s accuracy.
They also didn’t reveal medical malpractice insurance costs or average student loan levels.
The other thing I will mention is Missouri is one of only a few SEC states that permits collectives to operate under the school’s money raising apparatus, which results in a competitive advantage. Think benefits to donors on steroids. So his comments are looking hypocritical in addition to dumb in my view.

Yeah, RCH, I was thinking his hypocrisy was as bad as his fueling income envy. What an asshole.

Eli complaining about people being overpaid has a bit of glass house feel to it. Missouri was 6-7 last year.

“So Eli, you got an extra year with Mizzou for your moral loss to UGA, can you expound upon your point about the players and their NIL value? Thanks for taking my question.”

Two thoughts – MD’s have a lifetime income whereas most NIL guys only have a few years of that $$$. Second thought – Eli is a bigger dumbass and more tone deaf than half of those serving in congress.

Came here to say the same… NIL money will be spent quickly… a pediatrician will have that for a lifetime…

I miss the old days when not every discussion of college football had to revolve arounds the endless pursuit of money by everyone from every angle possible. This current version sucks everywhere but on the field on Saturdays.

Also Coach, athletes and salesmen have always made lots of money, more than a lot of occupations deemed “vital”. The 85-15 rule applies, but there’s nothing new about this.
