Can a network have a hype video?

If so, CBS nailed it with this bad boy.  I’ve already watched it several times.

You can’t say Georgia got shortchanged there, either.  Well done, folks.

And on a related note

Lundquist, who retired from the SEC broadcast in 2016, remains a loyal viewer every fall afternoon.

“First of all, I love the SEC,” Lundquist said in a recent interview with AL.com “It’s the greatest assignment I was ever given in my life.”

He won’t be watching Saturday, Lundquist said, because he was invited to attend the final SEC on CBS broadcast in Atlanta.

“I can’t wait,” Lundquist said.

Guys, five minutes in the booth with Gary is all I ask.  For old times sake, okay?

Damn! What a run. It is nice for SEC to have the full attention of a conference. Not too hopeful that Disney will put quite the same touch on it.

Can you imagine all the $$ CBS is walking away from? If I were the CEO of American mass media, some negotiator’s heads would be rolling.

Ya have to give it to cbs, the last 24 years (?) they have given us the absolute best of college football. Bravo.

Loved Vern, Brad not so much.
    Will definitely miss Gary.
If I can get the video & audio synced, will listen to radio broadcast.

Pro tip. If radio is ahead of your TV feed, switch to a streaming radio broadcast (Georgiadogs app or XM). That should give you enough of an internet delay that the tv broadcast is in front of radio. Then just pause tv at the opening kickoff right as toe meets leather, listen for radio delayed Goooo Dawgs! and unpause tv. I’ve done this for years with great success.

It was cool they offered the National Championship game in home team radio simulcast on ESPN2.

  9. Damn, just damn. Who knows what the difference in the bids were, but it won’t be the same. CBS brought NFL production value to the SEC.

Let’s make this last one a great memory for Dawgs everywhere.

Unlike some others on this thread, I’m a huge Nessler fan. Not so much Gary. Regardless, respect everybody’s opinion. We all have our favorites. The networks failure to renew their contract with SEC will be one of the biggest entertainment industries failure stories for the next 20 years. The premier conference could’ve stayed linked to the premier network in its skills to present college football. oh well. I found the theme music on YouTube and saved it to my archive. Least I can take it out and listen to it occasionally.

    Like Brad a good bit.
Gary got on my nerves pretty bad at times, and with that said, that irritating sonofabitch did know football.

I understand that people care about the stuff and who is calling the games. I don’t understand why they do.

If I could get ambient stadium noise piped in only, I’d be ecstatic.

Nobody who ever called a game for tv has attracted any admiration or loyalty from me. I try to block most of it out as background noise and usually if I’ve heard something its something stupid or annoyingly stupid.

Like: “these Auburn fans are sophisticated.” I could have happily gone my whole life without having that hit my ears.

Thanks Gar. Its been real…. Buh…bye!

This isn’t exactly what you’re wishing for Derek (and it doesn’t relate to CBS) but, my buddy and I have discovered that ESPN’s 4K stream on YouTubeTV… doesn’t have commercials! When an ad break begins, the camera just pulls back and gives a shot of the field or the stadium until the game resumes. Something to keep in mind once we whip Bama’s ass and start the playoffs.

The end of an amazing run of delivering the best of college football.

As usual look no further than Mickey for why.

Watching the PAC 12 last night the production values between Mickey and CBS are glaring. Danielson knows a lot but talks too much. Verne was the network version of Munson. I’ve been listening to Nessler since he was the falcons play by play guy with Ken Burrough and skinny Bobby Harper and like him a lot. Beth Mowins and RG 3 are not something I look forward to.

It just seemed like a perfect match. As many have noted, cbs does a great job, and as that video shows, the SEC delivered the best product in the history of football for the last 25 years. It would have been a travesty for those moments to have any less prominence, or that production value to have been wasted on Iowa Nebraska games.

That highlight reel reminded me how many times Auburn has been beaten on the last play of the game. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch.

I know it’s impossible, but if there were some way to port in the halcyon days of Verne and Todd Blackledge, I believe that would be the ultimate parting gift.

I met Uncle Verne in the Jacksonville airport one year, standing in line for the security screening. He was such a nice person, friendly and warm. I too hope he gets a substantial slice of airtime today.

This from a guy that gets to sit on #16 at Augusta National every year and gets paid to do it. What a life Lundquist has!

The thing that gets lost is how much better cbs is at producing a football game. Fox is pretty much unwatchable in comparison.

Almost the perfect amount of Gary, which was minimal. That being said, the Nakobe Dean “Uh-oh” INT vs FU would have been nice.
