Georgia’s 2024 schedule?

Dawgs247 claims to have gotten a sneak peak.

Aug. 31 vs. Clemson (Atlanta)

Sept. 7 vs. Tennessee Tech

Sept. 14 at Kentucky*

Sept. 21 Bye Week

Sept. 28 at Alabama*

Oct. 5 vs. Auburn*

Oct. 12 vs. Mississippi St.*

Oct. 19 at Texas*

Oct. 26 Bye Week

Nov. 2 vs. Florida (Jaxsonville)*

Nov. 9 at Ole Miss*

Nov. 16 vs. Tennessee*

Nov. 23 vs. UMass

Nov. 30 vs. Georgia Tech

The away schedule is a doozy, although the Dawgs get bye weeks before Alabama and Florida.

I don’t think you’re going to hear any media complaints about the non-con schedule next year.

Doing the right thing, redux

The Civil War lives on!

Just a reminder that every time you hear an AD in the future say a rivalry game can’t be maintained because of conference realignment, the odds are highly likely they’re full of shit.

Moving on to Big Blue Country

Speaking of Vandagriff, he’s made a quick decision about his future.

**********************************************************************

UPDATE:  Weiszer spoke with Brock’s dad about the decision.

“We couldn’t control what’s going on at Georgia,” Greg Vandagriff said. “He’s behind a kid that won two national championships and one that’s possibly a first-round draft pick so at this point in his career, he need to get on the field.”

Hard to argue with the logic, assuming Beck stays.

The rising cost of doing business?

According to Mike Griffith (I know), there are “sources saying (Carson Beck) is asking for upwards of $4 million with Brock Vandagriff having entered the portal”.

I am reminded of the old joke, “you can ask…”.  Seriously, I can’t imagine that number is based on reality, but if it is, Smart would be nuts to agree to it.  And I’d love for Beck to return next season.

2023 Mumme Poll, Week 14

Screenshot_2019-09-30 (1) Senator Blutarsky ( MummePoll) Twitter As expected, Georgia’s loss put a damper on participation this week.  258 ballots were cast, with an average of 5.3 teams appearing on them.

Also as expected, our top 25 had a shakeup at the top.

Tidbits:

  • Only one team wound up on more than 90% of the ballots.
  • Only six wound up on at least 50% of the ballots. In the end, we’re not big fans of a 12-team playoff this season.

A reminder of the selection committee’s final top 25:

Well, we don’t see eye to eye on the playoff field, do we?  (Or on Clemson and Tennessee being included in the top 25.  But I digress.)  And not just the overall makeup — we’ve got Washington and Michigan flipped in order.

I curious what y’all think of that.  Peyton thinks our results, in the end, are more logical than the committee’s and while I don’t necessarily disagree with that, it does seem like a very low bar to cover.

The committee, you may remember, fussed over their choices quite a while; I think Boo Corrigan noted that they went over the top four picks something like eight times before finalizing them.  Compare that with what we did.

The contrast could hardly be greater.

Conference affiliation saw the SEC remain on top.

Geographic participation saw a very slight decline in Georgia’s numbers, to 62.8%.

The answers to this week’s security question come as no surprise to me.

Although I wonder what they might have looked like if we had asked that question before the SECCG.  I guess the good news is that there’s less pressure on Kirby next season.  (That’s a joke, folks.)

That brings the 2023 Mumme Poll to a conclusion.  I hope it’s been as enlightening for you as it always is for me.  I do want to take this moment to thank Peyton once again for his contribution in making this happen.  I just direct traffic; he does the grunt work to get the numbers to tally.

That’s all, peeps.
