The worst thing about the Kentucky loss is that it’s robbed me of the pleasure I would ordinarily be taking from this.
Well, okay, most of the pleasure, anyway.

UPDATE: I have to admit that this cheered me up.
He really nailed that one, didn’t he?
You have to admit he was a good fit for Notre Dame. The arrogance was always apparent, right there next to the “decided strategic advantage.”

“SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Charlie Weis wouldn’t blame Notre Dame for firing him.”
And paying him $18,000,000.00.
With that in mind, here’s the music that’s always playing between Charlie’s ears…

Give Charlie credit for being honest with the media.
We could use a good dose of that here.

Exactly. The buck stops with him, and he owns up to it. Unfortunately (for him), that buck’s been stopping quite a bit the past few seasons.

I’d like to believe that our current coaching staff has considered that Damon Evans has this option available as well.
If these guys are coaching for their jobs, I’m not seeing it.

He knows Damon has that option.
He also knows he has four more years left on an eight year contract.

I find that other-worldly pathetic. You’re paid to make decisions conducive to winning football games. Not to just get paid. If you’re choosing option #2 over #1, then you’re doing your soul an extreme disservice.

What’s funny about the Holtz video is that with the exception of Pitt, he was basically right about the Irish’s schedule. Michigan’s awful. USC is eminently beatable. The Washington teams are bad. Mich. St. backslid and Purdue’s nothing special. UConn’s going to have to fight to make a bowl game. Navy lost to Temple. If the Irish were even as good as the Stanford team that’s going to crush them this week, they’d have one loss at the most and be right in the BCS mix.
But they’re not.

Exactly – I love the “they’re not the second best team in the country, but they’ll be the best team in the stadium” rationale.
Wrong.
