You know, my first reaction upon reading this post of previews from Kentucky bloggers about the Georgia game was a derisive snort. But you know what? Their team has garnered a 2-2 split with Georgia in the last four seasons, and could easily be 3-1 in those games but for some last-minute heroics from Stafford, Green and Dobbs in the ’08 game.
So maybe they’re entitled to a little condescension at this point. That’s certainly something Mark Richt needs to get turned in the right direction this season.
Get The Picture 
Watching the Dawgs play in Commonwealth Stadium has become much more uncomfortable than it was when I was growing up.

Oh, good. Kentucky’s basketball arrogance has bled over to football. If this trend continues, they’re going to become some really insufferable pricks. I’ll never forget my surprise when I got to Lexington two years ago to find that they expected to win the game based on their win two years before.
Ah well, it’s still my favorite non-JAX road trip, and I truly don’t anticipate losing to them. All of the problems they exploited have been fixed, in theory, so bring it on. And then we’ll send Mark Fox and Travis Leslie up there to Rupp and beat their asses there, too.

I still don’t get why he’s referencing Ken Malcome. What does that have to do with anything. Yes, he probably won’t have a year that lets him start over 4 upper classmen. How is that a negative? and why does it matter?

We have the departed, unlamented 5th-year senior “leeeeader” at QB of last year to thank for any attitude that Wildcat fans are giving us. That abomination was, to put it tactfully, an extremely disappointing way for him to celebrate Seniors Night in our last home game of the season. To be sure, the Martinez D made its contributions but I will never forget that bobbled hand-off that he inflicted on Ealey and of course his game-ending pick. Sending Aaron Murray as a RS Freshman to take on the ‘Cats in Lexington is a plus in my book, since there is no way that our QB play in last year’s game could have been worse. Until then, Wildcat fans will air their lungs out and I am for am inclined to ignore them for now in hopes that the significant changes from last year will turn things around for us.

Suffice to say, after having been at that particularly humiliating piece of bull mess (I almost booed that day. I really almost did), I certainly hope it doesn’t a. take that long into the season nor b. take that desperate and dire of a situation to lead us to running the football down anyone’s and everyone’s throat.

I think it’s awesome that Kentucky is (was?) playing reasonably competitive football.

I don’t know whose D was worse – theirs or ours. I guess theirs since Dobbs did make that one pick in the end. But that’s like trying to pick the most attractive whore in Palatka whorehouse.
We solve our D problems to any degree then we win these bullshit games against KY. We have ZERO business loosing to them in football.
And taking nothing from Rich Brooks – he could coach well with what he had.

Now that Rich Brooks is gone look for UK to come back down to earth. The last 4 years were the best 4 consecutive years in the history of their program.

Apparently, this game is a bellwether for Georgia’s season as a whole. If you look at the individual game results over the course of the series (particularly the last two decades), Georgia only loses to Kentucky when they are having a craptacular season: 2009, 2006, 1996, 1990.
So, if Georgia beats Kentucky, then they might be a good team, but losing almost certainly means Georgia is a bad team. Conventional wisdom being proven by results…

2006- The “Let Stafford Do Whatever The Hell He Wants” game. Also the “Daniel Inman Lets Stafford Get His Nose Busted” game. For those who wish Richt still called the plays, I present this game as Exhibit A; Lumpkin couldn’t be stopped so naturally we stopped giving him the ball, opting instead to let Matt chuck it all over the place. Would have been an easy win had the team not been busting apart at the seams.
2007- Workmanlike victory.
2008- Team was nearly guaranteed of playing in the Capital One and only the Capital One, and played like it. (See also:@ AUB, vs. GT.) One of the many milestones of baffling defensive FAIL in the Late Willie Era.
2009- No, Joe, don’t….dammit.
Before that, when we didn’t have our head up our hindquarters on a near permanent basis against UK, we clinched the SEC East against them in 2005 and scored a bajillion points against them in 2004.

Agreed, agreed, ageed. But it is what it is. Our guys will have a lot to prove this year and at least the opening steps have been taken to do it – at least to make this year as UNLIKE last year as possible. Hopefully that means Good instead of bad, as opposed to bad in a different way. But we will have some idea of where things are headed in a little over 5 weeks’ time. Can’t wait!

UF last lost to UK in 1986. The Gators are 23-0 against the ‘Cats since then.

I wish you would not bring last years game up. I have to take anti-nausea medication again. You know though how much worst was it than the meltdown against UT the year before. We have got a very solid record of not playing complete games. We don’t put teams away. I’m sorry I have to leave the room and take my meds.

@Prov and @Realist: I live in Lexington, KY. Over the last 6 years, the only UGA game I get to attend is the game here in Lexington every 2 years.
The first year I moved here (2004), we destroyed them 62-17. That was my daughter’s first football game.
In 2006, I took her again, and we lost an extremely disappointing game 24-20 – largely due to our kicker being injured.
In 2008, we were (somewhat) lucky to get a 42-38 win. It should never have been that close.
I’m sick of this game being close. Can 2010 please be a blowout win for us again?
