If you make demands on Phil Fulmer, the terrorists win.

Remember a few years ago, when everyone got on Kellen Winslow, Jr. for his soldier tirade?  It seems to me that this comment from Tennessee’s former head coach travels in the same territory:

“… My last few years, if you talked about only winning nine, it was an act of terror, and now they’re pushing and hoping to win six to get into a bowl game.”

Now we know why his coaching fell off in the last three seasons – he was worried that Mike Hamilton was going to go all Bin Laden on him.  That last two-year contract extension must have scared the hell out of Fulmer.

UPDATE: John Pennington writes that Fulmer is angling for Mike Hamilton’s job.

The irony there is so thick, you could cut it with a knife.

Fulmer is still so pissed about the whole situation he can barely finish off that box of doughnuts.

I hope the Big Orange Nation is happy. They run Fulmer off. They then hire Kiffin, the man who cannot tuck his shirttail in, who bails on them after one season. Then they hire the La. Tech coach with a losing record because nobody else wanted the job (e.g. Cutcliff at Duke) and now Dooley is showing his players how to shower properly. The devil you know is better than the devil you do not know.

I thought that Fulmer didn’t deserve the way he was shoved out of the door by the UT faithful (much the same as Johnny Majors didn’t deserve the big orange knife Fulmer planted between his shoulder blades).

That said, Phil needs to shut his trap. Every time he opens his mouth he just looks more and more like that girl you broke up with who can’t move on with her life. Phil, we know Tennessee has taken two huge steps backwards since the halcyon days of Peach Bowl and Outback Bowl appearances in your final days. We know that they probably should have either stayed the course with you or made a better decision with your replacement. We have no idea why Mike Hamilton still has his job. But seriously, stop it. Just be quiet and we promise we’ll try to remember you as a champion coach and not the fading coach that started the decline in the first place.

GD you are too kind. Fulmer DID deserve what he got for the underhanded way he treated Johnny Majors. The Vols fans are getting what they deserve for treating Fulmer like they did. Dooley is in the process of getting what he deserves (this season at least) for the way he has acted (spinelessly IMO) since arriving in KnoxVegas. Now if Mike Hamilton gets the ax and we can just get the NCAA to punish Lane Kiffin and his minion Ed Orgeron all will be right with the universe.

Phil should be happy that anyone wants to hear his opinion and be a lot more diplomatic about it. Unfortunately it seems that his ego is approaching his waistline’s girth.

From all the carrying on by some Georgia fans I’m expecting mark Richt to get some orange jumpsuits and release a video.

He’s got a selective memory. He got fired for only winning five, and he did twice his in his final four years of coaching.

If he came back as AD, he’d have to name Randy Sanders HC of the football team.

Oh please oh please oh please.
