When mascots attack

Strange.

Ohio University has apologized to Ohio State and its fans after the school’s Bobcat mascot tackled the Brutus Buckeye mascot, touching off an impromptu wrestling match before Saturday’s game at Ohio Stadium.

Am I the only guy who thinks that all pregames or possibly halftimes should have a mascot fight? Except LSU is not allowed to use Mike the Tiger.

Pretty indicative of how the game went, I’d say….

Bobcat mascot should be ashamed of his poor tackling.

The Oregon Duck is not impressed.

No season is complete without mascot-on-mascot violence.

I was really surprised at how easy Brutus shook off the tackle.

I think Ohio’s cheerleading squad needs to take a hard look at their strength and conditioning coach. Maybe even a new DC.

Classic. The thing I can’t figure is how does Tressel get the OSU players to kneel, take hats off and bow heads in unison during the bobcat attack of the buckeye. Leads me to believe that the whole thing was faked like the moon landing. On the other hand, at least the Ohio U. mascot did something. The only thing I’ve seen Hairy Dawg do is knock the remote out of the guy’s hand while watching the gator in HD. At least Russ knows how to cool his nuts on a bag of ice.

This reminds me of a UGA/GTU baseball game I attended at Turner Field a few years ago. Some guy dressed up like a Bulldawg Elvis got in a knock-down-drag-out fight with Buzz, the GTU mascot. I’m not sure who won the fight, but Buzz ended up being thrown out of Turner Field. +1 for Elvis.

    “Buzz fought like a sissy”

    Redundant?

Speaking of Buzz, does anyone remember the UGA-Tech game at Bobby Dodd … I’m pretty sure it was 1999 in the Jasper Sanks game, but it might have been 2001 when Richt started his streak against them… anyway, Buzz was walking around on the field in front of the UGA student section next to the chain link fence. A UGA fan who looked like he had been drinking for the past several days reached over the fence and grabbed Buzz in a headlock and started just pounding on his head for a solid five seconds before security could pull him off of Buzz and drag him out of the stadium.

Now, I’m not saying he should have done that… but I understand.

I actually got dizzy from the sudden rush of oxygen leaving my lungs. That’s a clip that gets funnier the second and third time you watch it.

The best thing of all is that this kid planned to do this while trying out to be the mascot. This was his sole purpose in being the mascot. Greatest Ever!

Not only that, he managed to get enrolled in a different school so that Ohio U couldn’t even kick him out!

The NCAA needs to upgrade its mascot compliance staff, IMO. There is a serious lack of institutional control here. Next thing you know mascot agents will be paying them to do stuff like this so they can get all viral on Youtube.
