Lucky thirteen

Let’s see… key high-profile match ups potentially tossed aside, Greg McGarity worried about liquidated damages provisions and coaches complaining about unbalanced schedules and trips to Texas.

Yeah, this whole thirteen-team schedule thingy looks like it’ll be a breeze to put together.  No wonder you’ve already got conference athletic directors undercutting the boss’ message.

      The easiest OOC games to get out of (and the ones that really should go anyway) are the 2013-14 Clemson home and away contests. Clemson, are you interested in ever becoming a member of the SEC? We are in a tight because we have a new 13th school. No promises but if you cut us some slack on scheduling we’ll play you later in the year in 2 future years. Play hardball about this and want liquidated damages, well…….

    Why are people still mentioning the 9-game conference slate? (9*13)/2 teams per game = 58.5 games. Unless we can find a way to (a) play half a game (b) play three teams in one game or (c) have at least one team play itself there is no way to put together a schedule with the same number of games for all teams.

    There could be negotiations behind the scenes with another school that may not be added until after this season. That was my assumption.

    I can’t get over Emmert. He is comical.

    NCAA President Mark Emmert is encouraging conference officials to consider factors besides revenue when weighing whether or not to change conference allegiances. Emmert told the AP he was concerned about the perception that money is driving the decisions, declaring “this is not the NFL, the NBA, it’s not a business.”

    No one could have predicted when Emmert told the AP he was concerned about the perception that money is driving the decisions, declaring “this is not the NFL, the NBA, it’s not a business”, that rookie AD Dave Hart would be reading Clay Travis’ take on the Big 12 By-Laws where money drives the decisions
