He only got screwed in the sense that he never should’ve been hired in the first place. I mean, it’s not like Fox didn’t know what they were getting — an inane loudmouth and all-world helicopter parent who is widely despised even in his home state (and even by large numbers of people who share his right-wing political views). His presence was always going to turn off viewers and advertisers alike in droves; I’m kind of scratching my head as to why Fox Sports didn’t notice that until the ink was dry on the contract.

The blogosphere put out a hit on this guy a few years ago for trying to destroy Mike Leach, and he’s been radioactive ever since. At Texas Tech, Leach was God’s special gift to sports bloggers, so I don’t blame them for being upset.
It showed how out of touch Fox was that they hired James in the first place. I’ve never liked his on air persona (simpleton with strongly-held opinions), so I find his tone-deaf pleas for justice entertaining.
By the way, did you hear about what happened when he was at SMU?
