”It has nothing to do with Texas Tech.”

Craig James says his firing by Fox Sports Southwest has left him ”radioactive” for future broadcasting jobs.  Clearly, this is a man possessed of a very short memory.

Further proof of that?  “He also said he would not rule out another run for public office.”  Dude’s a glutton for punishment.

I don’t like the guy, but he did get screwed this time.

He might have gotten screwed, but if he hadnt screwed and stepped on people on the way up, there would be a place for him right now.

He only got screwed in the sense that he never should’ve been hired in the first place. I mean, it’s not like Fox didn’t know what they were getting — an inane loudmouth and all-world helicopter parent who is widely despised even in his home state (and even by large numbers of people who share his right-wing political views). His presence was always going to turn off viewers and advertisers alike in droves; I’m kind of scratching my head as to why Fox Sports didn’t notice that until the ink was dry on the contract.

‘Glutton for punishment.’ Maybe, but on the other hand politics is home to lots of failed assholes.

If Marv Alpert can overcome horrible testimony like this to get back in the booth, Craig thinks there is a chance for him too:

“A. And I tried to push him off me and I went to grab his hair and his hair lifted off, and he went to grab his hair and I ran out of the room.
Q You say that his hair came off?
      A. I said it lifted off.
      Q. It lifted off. That’s something you read about in the press, isn’t it?
      A. No. I have known that for years, that he wore a toupee.
      Q. You read it in the press, didn’t you?
      A. No, I didn’t read it in the press.
      Q. Did he tell you that?
      A. You can look at it and see. … It’s very apparent that he wears a toupee.”

The blogosphere put out a hit on this guy a few years ago for trying to destroy Mike Leach, and he’s been radioactive ever since. At Texas Tech, Leach was God’s special gift to sports bloggers, so I don’t blame them for being upset.

It showed how out of touch Fox was that they hired James in the first place. I’ve never liked his on air persona (simpleton with strongly-held opinions), so I find his tone-deaf pleas for justice entertaining.

By the way, did you hear about what happened when he was at SMU?

James said that because of lack of vetting skills one day Fox Sports Southwest would ”have to answer to the Lord for their actions.”

    In related news,

“After saying God told him to leave the NFL combine because he would be drafted by the Seattle Seahawks if he didn’t work out there, former San Diego State RB Adam Muema showed up Friday at the Florida facility where he had been preparing for the combine.”
