I think they’ve found this year’s meme for Georgia Tech football.
When you get down to it, it’s just another way of saying Chantastic.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Dave Hale was one of my fav’s when he was at the Macon paper before Seth. Really wish he was somewhere writing on the Dawgs or at least the SEC…

When did Hale go to ESPN?

I believe David covered the Phillies beat for only a year. He has spent, i believe, the past two years covering the FSU beat for ESPN. It looks like he is now covering the entire ACC. Good for him. He was the best.

GTU Football 2014: Regression to the Mean!!!!!
If you’re 18 and you want to play football in a mediocre program that occasionally beats a good team and occasionally gacks one up to a 1AA program before mostly half full home crowds running an antiquated offense that won’t help you make the NFL, and you like serving as the pinata at the annual Mexican hat dance (Golden Sombreros for everyone!) with your hated in-state rival, YOU’RE AT GEORGIA TECH! YOU CAN DO THAT!!!!!

I bet Hale really enjoyed writing that article

What does “right the ship” really mean at Tech?
With the exception of Bobby Ross’ brief time on the Flats, Tech has not been relevant in the national football conversation since the 50’s and 60’s?
I don’t doubt Hale has heard grumbling, but this is a school that simply does not have the financial resources to compete at the top level of even the ACC.

At Tech, “Right the ship” = “Raise another sail on the Mayflower”.

Mayflower? More like teh Titanic.

The Titanic was one-and-done.
The Mayflower was much more antiquated and continued to harbor disease and suffering for many years after its maiden voyage.

O’Leary is a good coach…I’m glad he’s at CF and not GT.

No kidding. Without Notre Dame, things wouldn’t be as Chantastic as they are now with The Genuis.

Question is: Will Nicholson play the lead role in the movie?

Until Tech’s defense gets enough practice reps against a full-speed passing offense, it will be the same as it ever was.
Yes. This is as good as it gets.

Mediocrity thy name is Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech football is a case study in mismanagement. The real problem at Tech is financial, which undermines the product that Tech puts on the field. Getting tied up in long-term contracts containing large buy-outs with mediocre coaches in basketball and football doesn’t help, either. Bad administration at the top and poor ADs have consigned Tech to mediocrity. Also, it’s not a coincidence that Fishfry’s best 2 years at Tech were his first 2–he did it with Gailey’s players. Fishfry can’t recruit. That’s really why Tech football is no good–mediocre players.

The slide started 50 years ago…(HT Bluto) when, for whatever reason, Tech thought they were Notre Dame, etc., etc, etc…and left the SEC.
If Tech had stayed in the SEC, they might every well be more competitive.
Me? Glad to see the back of the non-relevant MF’s.
Hubris is its own reward. 🙂 🙂 🙂

I agree that was probably the beginning, Scorp. But since joining the ACC, a respectable conference, Tech has had numerous chances to turn things around and they just keep making the same mistakes. Is there a team in the history of CFB that got less out of winning a MNC than Tech did in 1990?

Considering it was a half-MNC and a Citrus Bowl win, they got about as much mileage as they deserved.

Got a lot of mileage out of it in Mexico.
