At least not when it comes to recruiting tight ends.
“Tight ends are a blast if you have them,” Leach said. “If you have a true tight end — and I mean a true tight end — then life is good. God didn’t make very many true tight ends. Just go to the mall and the big long-armed guys you see at the mall — you’ll see a couple, but most of them can’t run fast and those that can probably can’t catch. So there’s not very many of them.”
You know, that’s gotta suck. You make time go to the mall, fight the traffic, hunt for a parking spot, bop into Macy’s and — boom! — they’re all out of tight ends.
That’s why so many coaches do their recruiting on Amazon these days. You can find anything on the Internet.

LOL! Okay Senator, I just had to comment to thank you for the endorphins this morning. Nice play. 🙂

Next week he will give us the revelation that you cant just pick some guy over 300 lbs and expect them to be able to play on the OL or DL.

If it doesn’t work out with Smart, I’m all in on Leach. Screw it. Why not?

Ha, I clicked on the “comment” button just to say the same thing. I truly hope he at least winds up in the sec some day.

They’re probably at the mall with their fat girl friend.

I’m guessing there are no Bass Pro Shops in western Washington.

Thanks for the laugh this morning! That’s some funny stuff!
HS basketball games is where you find overlooked TE and especially WR talent. Some of them might not be playing football, but they are at least as worthy of a look as a guy shopping for a scarf in Macy’s.

Leach is right. TEs who can block yet still run fast and catch are hard to find.

He can’t find one, but we have four. Life isn’t fair.

I get what he’s trying to say. The guys who have the size to block linebackers but the speed to get behind them and safeties and also have good hands don’t grow on trees.

Macy’s?….you’re shopping for tight ends at Macy’s?

Believe it or not my wife’s nephew is a TE and has a scholly offer from Leach. Lives in Cali now but hasn’t accepted the offer because he wants to return to southeast. Only 6’2″ and admittedly doesn’t block well, but no problems with speed & quickness. Told him if he does end up playing in Pullman, we’d definitely make a trip to see him play.
