Don’t stop believing.

Nick Chubb is optimistic about Georgia’s chances in 2018.

When asked to give a prediction on how Georgia would possibly fare without him next year, Chubb didn’t downplay expectations that he help set.

“I think they can win it all, they just have to get the job done. Definitely a lot better,” Chubb said.

Fellas, you don’t want to disappoint Nick Chubb.  Don’t make him come back here to warn you.

I feel the same way. We lost a lot of talent and a lot of experience but those guys on the right side of the defense didn’t get their name called this weekend and we won’t be playing many guys who don’t get drafted any more.

We’ll miss the punter and it may take some time for the RB picture and the defense to come together, but that’s going to be a better overall football team at the end of the season, if they stay healthy.

I agree as well. We have entered the “reloading” phase of Georgia football.

Kirby’s tenure so far has just about mirrored Saban’s first two years at Alabama. If year 3 holds to that trend…. look out.

I give Kirby the edge in recruiting and on field results.

2016 and 2007 are practically mirror images but the 2008 Tide lost by 11 to UF in the SECCG and then got whipped by 2 tds to Utah in NOLA.

We won the SEC and the Rose Bowl and but for an idiot/bought? side judge we win it all. Bama followed 2008 with the No. 3 recruiting class in Feb. of 2009. We followed our season up with the No. 1 class.

CNS had a senior QB in 2008. CKS had a true freshman.

        We’re ahead of the 2009 bammers….

I’m nervous about South Carolina and Missouri because of Bentley and Lock, and I think that if we have some defensive problems it’ll be early in the year and they should gel pretty well by the end of the year. If we are good enough to start 6-0, I like our chances to get back to the CFP because I think we’ll be much better in all aspects in the second half of the year.

Don’t forget that home game against Vanderbilt. Hope we don’t overlook them!

I understand this, but they have more reasons to be nervous about UGA than UGA has to be nervous about them.

Gents, I’m saying I wish we were playing Bentley and Lock later in the year this year, because both of those guys can throw it around and I think our secondary will be shakiest early in the season, if it is shaky at all. Maybe it won’t be. Do I think we’ll lose? I think we are more likely to win both, but they concern me with where they are placed, early in the year and on the road. Munson would be very disappointed in yous guys.

Both have new offensive coordinators and neither was a powerhouse last season. If we can get any sort of play from our defensive front neither Bentley nor Lock will give me any concern.

LSU is a tough place to play no matter how weak they look. That game and Auburn are the only games that concern me. Auburn being so late in the season worries me if we have any injuries on the defensive front because we have very little depth there.

This is Auburn’s designated “down” year. LSU will be tough just because of all the drunk Cajuns. Sackerlina will give us a battle but we’ll have to help them a good bit for them to win. Mizzou was sunk the minute they signed SOD as the Offensive Coordinator (“I’m gonna try a bunch of things and see what sticks”).

I forgot SOD took over for Heupel. I recant on Missouri. Lock still has a great arm but SOD will have him trying QB draws and swing passes or something. Will SOD wear canary yellow pants?

Mizzou closed strong, I think they ended up 7-6 after starting 1-5. Lock’s got a great arm, they put up more points on us last year than anybody but Oklahoma and Auburn. I’m not arguing they are unbeatable or likely to beat us, I am saying until we have multiple lock down corners, I’m going to fear QB’s who can throw. The only time Georgia beat the shit out of Saban defense was when we had David Greene throwing darts to Fred Gibson, et al. against LSU in 04. Bentley also doesn’t suck and that’s game 2, they finished 9-4 and played us pretty close last year. If LSU gets a QB I’ll be more concerned about them, until then Coach O sucks and historically Georgia has done too bad in Red Stick. I think we’ve won 2 out of the last 3 down there. Totally agree about Auburn, objectively they are the best team on our RS schedule at this point, I think even Barnhart would agree with us there.

        • They played us pretty close last year.

We still beat them by double digits in a game that wasn’t as close as the score appeared … and that was with a field position gift at the beginning of the game with the onside kick attempt.

I’m not saying they will beat us, I just think they’ll be decent and it’s on the road. I hate playing them in game 2, I liked the placement of last year’s game and wish we could keep them there. Their problem is often depth and that issue is mitigated to a great extent when we play them the second week in September.

This is how I see it as well. The coaching changes at SC and Mizzu will slow them some, so they are less likely to be better than last season and they were little more than irritating then.
LSU has a D and you never know which offense you’ll play, plus the venue is distracting. Auburn beat us once last season 40-17, so I won’t look past them.

I’m not nervous about Mizzou with SOD at the helm of the O. A little concerned with an improved South Carolina in Columbia and LSU at their place at night, though. If we lose both those games we probably won’t win the East so no SECCG and no playoff. A split would probably be good enough to win the East if FU and UT are as bad as they look now.

I’m with him. Wife and I have already booked a flight to SFO for our anniversary. Here’s to the Dawgs giving us a game to attend that last night.

The biggest concern for me this year will be all the leadership we lost from the upper classmen. Who steps up? Ledbetter, Godwin, Gaillard? Maybe Fromm and Nauta among non seniors.

Thank you for this post title. Count me as one of the good guys that love the nod to the ’80’s in the Sanford music selection.
