“There’s no crying from the yacht” has a ring to it, admittedly, although I doubt it’s the vibe Kirby’s looking for.
Kirby Smart with an interesting response when asked about the challenge of dealing with CFB's recruiting calendar while his team is in the middle of a championship run:
"(The SEC coaches) got mad at me in Birmingham and (Mark) Stoops told me, 'There's no crying from the yacht,'…

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Stoops can only hope to cling to the lifeboat dinghy while the yacht heads toward Houston. If you wanted to be on a yacht, why haven’t you thrown off the anchor of coaching football at a basketball school, Mark?

Well, he built the damn yacht – so…

Exactly. Poor little Mark is perfectly free to build one too.
I get the same ire when someone says “can’t hide money”. I’m like, come on.

I never have quite understood “anchor down” at Vandy.

It makes no sense, much like gator bait, which is used to draw a gator into a trap.

It’s reality expressing itself over a poorly thought-out motto.
During battle, storms, voyages, etc. the anchor is “aweigh” which is up.
As a down anchor holds back a ship from all of the things mentioned above, it makes real sense for Vandy.
I think they were (probably sub-consciously) thinking of the wonderful Munson petition for the Dawg’s defense to ‘Hunker Down you guys…Hunker’em down one more time” in the closing minute of a win against Auburn…one of the greatest calls of all-time in College Football or any other sport.

Apparently, Stoops hasn’t been paying attention to Saban’s bitching from his fleet over the years.
