Hello, Colbie Young.

Georgia just grabbed a 6-foot 5-inch, 215-pound wide receiver out of Miami, and if that doesn’t give you Lawrence Cager flashbacks, it should.

No, he hasn’t posted superstar statics at the U, but he’s certainly been productive.  Graham notes the part of his game that’s particularly attractive to me.

The other intriguing thing about Young is his 64.7 percent contested catch rate. He pulled down 11 out of his 17 receptions contested catch opportunities this past year.

The only Georgia receiver who approached that rate was Bowers.

Graham also points out something Smart said in reference to Rara Thomas.

“It loosens your whole defense up when you’ve got a guy at X that can win some one-on-ones… Because there are a lot of answers you can have, it’s hard to answer if the guy can go up and catch the ball one-on-one.”

You may remember that Thomas missed the SECCG and that Bowers was less than 100% there.  Sounds like Kirby certainly does.

I like the move, a lot.  But, there is this note of caution posted by a ‘Bama dude to consider:

That’s kind of a weird observation to make about the SEC champs who are getting ready to play in the CFP, but what do I know?
