Is it just me, or do you find a humbler Steve Spurrier, well… kinda boring?
I mean, who wants to hear pablum like this from the man?
… We do have better players, I know that. We’ve got better athletes this year than we’ve ever had. But we’re not talking until we do something. I probably overestimated our team last year as far as saying we had a chance if we were in a position to win the conference. Realistically, we had one guy drafted, Cory Boyd. So we didn’t have the team to do it. That was my mistake of trying to think maybe we could. So this year we’re not going to do anything, except to say, ‘Hey, we’re looking forward to playing N.C. State’ and trying to become a good team because we’ve not become one yet.
Yawn. What’s next, does he stop throwing his visor?

I have to agree with Hank. Also I think he’s a little worn down from the lack of positive results. He’s realizing it’s not as easy at So. Car. as it was at UFags. He’s probably wishing he’d taken the other Carolina head coaching job.
However I will bet if he does start winning the Ol’ Ball Coach we love to hate will return.

Something is definitely rotten in Denmark. I do not know a world where the words “humble” and “Steve Spurrier” are uttered in the same conversation.

I know we all still call Spurrier the Evil Genius. And I know he had some success at Duke before coaching at Florida. But I’m starting to wonder how much of his “genius” in the ’90s was due to the unearthly talent he had on the football field.
