It’s a downer, man.

We all like to assure ourselves in troubled times that things could always be worse, but sometimes that’s not the case.

  • If you need any further evidence of how far the Virginia football program has falled under Al Groh, the Cavs are a 6.5 point conference underdog this week… to Duke.
  • How ’bout that South Carolina offensive line?  The OBC is so uncertain about its skill that he called a mere two seven-step-drop passing plays against Wofford.
  • Nice rock.
  • At FSU, we learn that Drew Weatherford has been mentoring Christian Ponder and D’Vontrey Richardson.  Which explains a lot, when you think about it.
  • It’s safe to say at this point that Greg Robinson is a dead man coaching at Syracuse.
  • How bad does that Tennessee loss to UCLA look now?  Last week marked the first time in 44 years that UCLA failed to score a touchdown in two consecutive games.

That situation at Syracuse is bad on both ends. AD Gross has done some great things in his short tenure w/ the sports program as a whole at Syracuse and been patient with Robinson up to this point. I think Coach Robinson is a good man, and a better coach than his record there indicates. I just think he was the wrong choice for installing a west coast program that Gross envisioned. And when Jim Brown feels the need to call out Robinson on national television, times are not looking up indeed.

Senator, you seen this? File it under ‘why computers shouldn’t be involved in determining a champion’:

  4. Yeah – there are several computer models that are seriously out of whack in the early season due to an insufficient amount of data.

About the rock. Remember the last time there was hew and cry for Phil’s head? I don’t want to see inspired Vols playing out of their minds on behalf of their maligned coach again.
