If you’re an Alabama Democrat, how bad were this week’s election results? This bad:
To quote Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely: “Alabama Coach Nick Saban running on the Democratic ticket could not have beaten a one-legged child molester running as a Republican.”
I guess Mark Foley now knows where to go to launch his political comeback.
Somehow I doubt that, especially if he pulled a Joe Manchin and ran as if he was Ronald Reagan.

One-legged child molester… that is not the preferred nomenclature. It’s “dis-abled,” yes, yes.

Remeber, if the person being desribed is a Republican than the PC language need not be applied; they’re heartless and have no feelings anyway.

Reversing the roles, it would be a “Physically challenged youth therapist with issues Democrat” and would win handily in San Fran.

this would not be the year for Saban, after all, he has at least one loss….the child molester might win.

Wait, is oversigning and medical redshirting considered child molestation in Alabama?

I don’t get the one-legged part.
Saban is big buddies with Manchin so for all I know he is a Democrat.
That’s why I don’t like to mix my sports and politics. 🙂
Have a good day,

Me, too. I always just want to punch the people who wear those stupid political “Dawgs for [insert jackass politician name here]” stickers to games. I mean, really, can I not get a time out from partisan stupidity?

Amen to that.

Sorry, I did not realize this was actually about politics.

+1. Those folks even annoy me when the button is for the candidate that I’m supporting.

I don’t know if anyone here is familiar with Sheriff Mike Blakely, but he is a one-of-a-kind. He has been the sheriff for at least 15 years or so and has cause quite a few stirs. He definitely speaks his mind and runs things his way. If you are on his good side, he is fantastic… if you aren’t, then life would probably suck.
I covered a drug raid with him and his guys one time in Ardmore (near the Tenn line). He pretty much gave us full access. I remember one of the arrested dealers’ phone rang and Blakely answered it. He said the owner of the phone was “tied up” and couldn’t talk- while the guy was right there in cuffs. Then, Blakely continued, “what do you want?” and proceeded to try set up a buy to catch the caller. He cracked some other one-liners that were a hoot during the arrest.
Before I started working in Huntsville, I think there prisoners at the county jail were pissed off about the conditions and started acting up. Blakely took them all outside and chained them together to some kind of post or something and left them in the rain overnight to show them they didn’t have it as bad as they thought. (I heard this story, so can’t verify if it’s 100% true).

I think a federal lawsuit about that was filed and the U.S. District Court and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals did nothing. A further appeal was taken to the U.S. Supreme Court which absolutely whacked and chided the 11th Circuit. Really embarrassing stuff was said in the opinion about the 11th Circuit. On remand there were some consequences as I recall.
