It’s hard to find fault in a 59-0 blowout where Georgia scored touchdowns the first five times it touched the ball, but just in case some of you out there want to vent about… I don’t know, the Rambo fumble? Carlton Thomas up the middle? Mike Bobo running up the score?… anyway, here’s your post. (Let it not be said that I don’t care about all of my readers.)
Try to be entertaining, at least.
I can find a fault. Those SOB’s at ESPN blacked out South Carolina. Had to watch a game cast on computer.

Luckly, I’m in Charlotte. Should’ve invited you up to watch. I hooked up the PC to the big screen.. it wasn’t bad at all.

Lucky for you that you got it in CLT. I spent an hour on the phone with TWC and was given ESPN’s number. TWC said it was an ESPN problem not a TWC problem.

It was the first game I watched on espn3, and I had to sign up on the TWC website, and the ESPN site. It was a little complicated, and I don’t remember all the steps, but I got it to work.

I have now been told that since I do not receive cable from TWC I can not get ESPN 3. This is after I watched the entire UGA basketball season on ESPN 3 and was not getting cable from TWC.

Same here in Kennesaw. I was expecting to see it on ESPN3. We found out it was blacked out at the last minute. I had to pay $35 for it. What a rip by ESPN!!!

You had to pay $35 for ESPN3 (360)? If so your provider is in violation of the contract with ESPN.
Or do you mean ESPN Game PLan PPV was blacked out for that game? It was in GA because ComCast has the PPV rights to it for CSS PPV.

Anytime we are on ppv, you won’t be able to watch UGA games on 3 if you are in GA (at least).

ESPN3 is a joke. Fortunately, there are other alternatives. It took me about 5 minutes of searching to find an online stream of the game.

Rambo fumble, yes. That is the sort of mistake that can lose a future close game. Better for him to just kneel the ball after the catch rather than fumble. Similar to the mental errors from last week like giving up 21 points off our mistakes

Well, since you’re asking for gripes, Michael Bennett was robbed by the stripped ones on what was clearly a TD catch. Harton was robbed twice on nice runs! Once for a TD and the other a 3rd down conversion inside the 5. (Well, at least once, the “holding” they called Long for was completely bogus. They didn’t bother replaying the alleged hold on Dantzler.)

Dantzler pretty much tackled his guy. I didn’t see the one on Long

Not sure Bobo ran up the score. We had second and third stringers in bybthe third quarter and walk-ons playing in the fourth. Heck, we were going for it on 4-and-15 (well within field goal range) so as not tonscore anymore. Besides, it’s nice to see UGA putting up a big number even if it was against CCU.

Yeah, somebody else mentioned that as well. I have to admit, by the second half I wasn’t paying close attention. I didn’t hear his name until 1:00 left in the game. Glad he got plenty of action, and that I just missed it.

They still haven’t fixed the numbers/fonts on the field, and I want our red drop-shadows back, as well as our trademark G designating the goaline. What’s next? Replace the hedges with a barrage of Nike logos?

I agree, Andy. I don’t like the font in the end zones. Nit-picky? Maybe, but I like the old font better, along with the old goalline “G”

My biggest gripe today is that my wife was sick this morning so we didn’t get out of the house until about 45 minutes later than I wanted to. Then my 5 year old daughter couldn’t sit still for two minutes straight (imagine that) so we left before the second half kickoff. Otherwise, I made it home in time to watch the night games, so there’s that. Oh, the game? No complaints here.

Off topic, but have you seen the rushing stats by Tech?
Their top four rushers combined for 409 yards.
ON 23 CARRIES (18 ypc).
The rest of them rand for over 200.
That’s scary, even if it was Kansas.

Yeah, they ripped off Kansas’ head and shat down their necks. 768 total yards. Paul Is a Johnson can run up the score with the best of ’em. Kansas, though, they do suck out loud.

Looked like a test run to see how they’d do versus ACC competition. If Texas/KU and Pitt/Syracuse join the ACC, that’d put them @ 16.

Anyone know why they moved the band to behind the endzone and why there was no stand for Mic Man and no Mic Man for that matter? Hopefully it won’t impact performance from the student section.

Wondered about that also. Wasn’t at yesterday’s game but at SC game, I couldn’t tell which band was playing, the two bands were sitting so close together.

I saw something abiut that last spring. It was something about wanting us to generate a lot of crowd noise at both endzones, Student section at one end with band at the other.

Not much to talk about with the dawgs, but what about Auburn? They almost lose to Utah state and msu and then blow a 14 pt lead at Clemson. Chizik is a national championship coach? I wonder what happened to the auburn coaches ability to call plays and make adjustments. And don’t tell me it’s because they lost the no 1 pick to the draft. It’s chizik’s job to have another cam in place. That’s just coaching.
Btw: Spurrier is running the ball like crazy in Columbia. He’s an awesome coach. What masterful play calling. How does he know to give it to lattimore so much? I guess we will never fully comprehend his genius.

They did, but you get significantly better results when you run the same plays versus what was essentially a group of cardboard cut outs, instead of one of the top 10 teams in the country (and one group of lucky SOBs).

My biggest gripe of the day was with Murray. While the game was a blow out, it was a cupcake team that came for the paycheck and that’s fine. However, back to Murray for a min, too many times today I saw him “lock on” to his receivers and stare them down. Very rarely did I see him look off any of the DB’s or Safety. That could be because his first option was open and he made a good quick read, but it also could be that he was focused on his first receiver and just waited for him to get open. It worked today against a lesser opponent, but in other more important game with better athletes, this could lead to costly interceptions which could cost us the game. I need to watch the replay, but I know I counted at least 8 times he did it. It was a good game, good execution on both sides, but that is my one gripe FWIW.

If Murray is the best in the SEC, then it’s the weakest collection of starting QB’s that I’ve ever seen in the conference.

FL’s DL is going to put tremendous pressure on Murray so look for those stare-downs to equate to gator INT’s. They missed several yesterday against Tyler Bray.

Dear Buck & Bob,
You are boring. You suck. The TV production sucked. ESPN3 sucked. Your call of the game was abysmal. You could not have been less insightful and gotten more facts wrong. Do not call another Dawg game. Ever.
Thank you.
/Dawgs won in a way I frankly admit I had lost all confidence in their ability to do so. Back on the bus!!!

1. I loved how Buck commented early in the game how CMR had recently been under a lot of criticism…I assume he was referring to himself.
Dawgs executed well today despite lesser opponent and 2 weeks of disappointment. They were focused (something rarely seen in the past few years against cupcakes). Starters (especially on D) played as if every snap mattered. Well done and on to Oxford.

Senator, a question for you after watching this game. It seems that our linebackers are making most all of the tackles on the runs. The D-Line in the first half wasn’t getting past the O-Line of even Coastal Carolina, though they were usually getting double-teamed. This is in contracts to say, Bama, whose D-Line is regularly putting pressure on the QB or making TFL. Do you think this is just CTG’s scheme? Does seem similar to Dallas.

It would make sense to protect the inside lb’s from blockers by having the DL eat up blockers and space, given our lack of depth, size and experience there. If you have DL shooting gaps you are going to create lanes between the tackles. That not necessarily a bad thing if you have an urlacher who whips the guard or fb pushes him into the hole and leave the ball carrier no where to go. If however your lbs will have cleat marks on their chest when confronting a pulling guard you want to make sure that guard never gets down field. You do that by having you linemen fill and hold rather than push up field.
My guess is that they are making sure that north/south is unavailble. That exposes the outside of course. So in football terms we are playing a lot of “spill” technique trying to get teams going east and west and hoping that our smaller perhaps faster lbs can get there before the back turns it upfield. This is what CVG did with his 4-3. It would make sense to protect the lb’s from blockers by having the DL eat up blockers and space, given our lack of depth, size and experience there. My guess is that they are making sure that north/south is unavailble. That exposes the outside of course as well giving a qb time to throw on 2nd and 4 for example. But you can’t have everything with less than optimal players. If we get a rolondo McClain you’ll probably see more sacks by the de’s.

My gripe? Stadium stuff. Anyone else notice the championship flags are all jacked up? The 80 and 42 National Championship flags weren’t flying last week or this week. The tallest pole just had one of the SEC title banners flying, and the MNC flags weren’t flown. That is lame, get it together stadium crew.

Not too much to gripe about, but since you asked:
1. Branden Smith is going to fumble a punt at some point this season. I’m glad someone lit into his butt after his first return, because he emphatically Logan Greyed it after that.
2. Murray tends to throw high at times, and is slow on out routes that would be pick-6’s against more talented D’s.
3. Wondering if Blair Walsh is suffering from senioritis.
4. Bored security personnel bothering old ladies about tickets – this probably ticked me off more than anything that took place between the hedges.
