Good kid, so I’m sorry to hear the news for him.
But that sure makes Spurrier’s life much tougher.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
That is a shame (truly, no snark). I hate it for the kid. I know that knee injuries can happen at any time (even in no contact running drills). However, with today’s game such as it is and the way he has been used, there was no way that kid was going to get out of Columbia alive and intact. His three years there will be like ten — before he ever gets to earn a dime.

Well it happened on a routine block, not a run. Looked innocent enough when it happened frankly.
Surprised he was hurt so badly.
No one had any sympathy for our injuries over the years however. The 2005 UF game doesn’t have an asterisk about how we would have POUNDED them if not for Shockley’s injury, so I will feel badly for them, but not regret if they lose 2 more in the east!
(Although to be fair, the ’07 game does have an asterisk as the Lord Tebow had a ding whereby he couldn’t use his fullback like speed to escape and that caused him to be sacked 7 times!)

My comment doesn’t;t distinguish who “they” are and therefore may make it look like I think ML plays for UF. I meant I hope USCe loses two more in the east (and for good measure I hope UF has the same fate!).

I was talking about the same thing prior to Saturday…it’s also a good reminder for all of us Dawg fans that want to see Crowell get something like 40 touches a game.
That’s one reason why I think Keith Marshall is the biggest recruit for 2012.

Tough loss. Lattimore is not only a great player but seems to be a good kid all around.

I wonder if it was not part of a larger issue. Lattimore has been fairly quiet since they rode him into the ground against us and Navy. I wonder if he had a mild injury that they did not want to let out due to Garcia/Shaw crap fest Spurrier created.

He may have been word down, but the injury was a fluke thing where a guy fell into his knee while he was blocking.

Um, worn down.

WTF did Spurrier think was gonna happen when the kid was running the ball 40 times a game? I realize that when this happened Lattimore was blocking but still. If a guy is on the field for damn near every play and carrying the rock most plays….What did BR call it above? “Worn down.” That’s as good a definition as any. A RB can only take so many hits before it’s the end. Ask Earl Campbell.

P.S. I would rather that USCe had a Pyrrhic loss to go along with the Lattimore injury.

You know what this means. IF (big if) we make it to the SECCG, the meme will be that it’s only because Brantley was injured, Lattimore was injured, Bray was injured, etc.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Whatever the meme, we would still be SEC East champs. I don’t think SC cares the meme from last year about the rest of the east being down.

Fine by me. Georgia’s had its fair share of injuries, too.

I’m more talking about the “Fire Mark Richt” crowd than opposing schools. I’m sure they will find any excuse to NOT be satisfied with SEC East champs if it means Richt is still the coach. Whatever. Can’t please everyone I suppose.

“Winning the East in a down year” would probably be more the chant of the Fire Now crowd. I don’t think it’ll be much, if any, of a factor beyond the lone blog nut, unless we do it by also losing to Florida along the way.
Up year, down year, beating all the ‘rivals’ in one year would do a lot for the program, no matter what their relative strengths are during the season.

Is there a reason why the truth cannot be spoken?
The Forgive Richt for Everything crowd could use a dose of truth too, you know.

Because we all know that labeling fans who are inclined to give the winningest coach in the history of our program (through 101 games) a little bit of leeway as “the Forgive Richt for Everything crowd” smacks of truth. Derp.

A little bit of leeway?
That little bit was gone sometime around 2009.
Seriously. Wake up.

we’re 5-2…
if we won out wouldn’t you be happy?
i see you here and on dawgsports all the time and you’re so negative.
what does it take to make you happy? if we win every game from here til the end of next season, will you admit you were wrong? will you admit that maybe everyone didn’t need to “wake up”?
we’re 5-2. we won 6 games last year. we can still win at least 10. that same team that looked terrible on saturday night vs a desperate team could actually win every game it has left. the potential is there.
would be happier if we won out or if we won only 1 more game (or, how about none?) and richt got fired and you had the opportunity to tell everyone how right you were about how bad the team you claim to support actually is?

So is your position that Richt should have fired Martinez and Van Halanger after the 2008 season, and the fact that he didn’t means that he must be fired regardless of his future success? That doesn’t seem rational. It just seems bitter and vengeful.
For the crowd that believes that we can fire Richt, hire Bill Belichick, and never lose another game over the next 20 years, I don’t think they’re rational either. But, at least their beliefs are for the future of the program. I think Belichick is a better coach than Richt. If he became our coach, we would probably have more success than we would under Richt. It’s just not going to happen.
But your position doesn’t seem to be about the future. Everyone can agree that the program is trending up. But you still want the coach fired. That just doesn’t make much very much sense.

Van Halanger never should have been hired. That was a total nepotism move.
Bobo should have been fired at least 1-3 years ago.
Martinez should have been fired 1-2 years earlier. He also probably shouldn’t have been hired in the first place. Another personal friend nepotism hire.

I see. So your real beef with Richt is that he can’t predict the future.
He hired a S&C coach in Van Halanger that was universally regarded as one of the best in the country. It was seen as a coup that he lured DVH away from FSU. But because it didn’t work out later (and I don’t recall people complaining about S&C prior to 2007), it should have never been done?
With WM, do you mean he should not have been hired as a DB coach, which he is also well regarded as? Or that he shouldn’t have been promoted to DC after Van Gorder left? Either way, you’re back to criticizing Richt for not accurately predicting the future.
Do your objections to Richt extend to the point that you believe we never should have hired him either? Or do you think we should have hired him (along with DVH & WM), but fired him after the 2005 season?
Does your hindsight crystal ball work this well with stock picks? Can you tell me which IPOs I should have bought into 10 years ago? Do you think Google and Facebook will catch on?
FWIW, I think the main criticism of Richt that is fair is that he waited a year too long in replacing the coaches. But, 2008-2010 is in the books. We can’t change it. Even if we fire Richt. The question is, can Richt get UGA back to the upper tier of the SEC? And the answer to that question has nothing to do with WM or DVH.

We lost our 2 starting LBs for part of the year and our best deep threat for a few games and the season isnt’ over. Not to mention the stuff that’s happened to Sturdivant over the past few years. Key injuries are a part of the game.
I hate it for Lattimore and the game, because watching truly great RBs is awesome (not so much when they are pounding you, but still) like the clip the Senator posted about Richardson.
However, I would love it if Alshon Jeffery up and quit the team to join the Wall Street protesters. I would be great to see Spurrier’s face then.
