Ole Miss never should have fired Cutcliffe he was the best thing that had happened to them in decades. They are a cautionary tale for trigger happy fans.

No it isn’t weird, he may.

Once again, who would we replace him with? Also in the face of our trigger-happy fans- “KEEP BOBO!!”. No sarcasm intended.

Yes, it is weird. Our recent run of success hasn’t made me forget about some atrocious playcalling in the not-so-distant past. Considering the talent we have, a top notch OC may be the only thing that stands between UGA and a future run at a MNC.

What in the hell does a vice president of a logistics company know about hiring a football coach? For that matter, what the hell does Archie Manning know about hiring a football coach? I’m sure his involvement will get the fans worked up into a frenzy of excitement, but seriously… what in the hell are they doing down there?

I don’t know… The FedEx guy probably know a lot about organizational leadership, finding quality managers and hiring the right people to make an organization successful. Archie Manning has some football experience as a player and as a person close the college and pro games. On top of that they are both important and influential alums who can get a fractured fan base behind a new regime. Seems to me it’s a smart gamble.

Excellent thinking, that is exactly why it is probably the right way to go. Doesn’t mean they will hit a HR, hiring a coach and projecting future success is a crap shoot, but this looks like a good place to start. Cannot believe Nutt makes that much money at UM.

For the reasons you name, my guess is that Ole Miss will go conservative and safe with the hire-meaning it will be a hire everyone initially can at least kind of support. Considering they play in a division with offensive minds like Petrino, Malzahn and (wait for it . . .) Mullen and defensive minds like Saban and Chavis, this is the wrong thing to do.

Ole Miss needs to take a chance and find their own bit of coaching genius if they are ever to be relevant in the SEC west. Malzahn might be a fit. But if you’re Ole Miss, why not go all out and place a call to Florida Keys?

Stoopnagle, you have got to stop this rational posting. It is confusing to a portion of our fans who don’t know crap about firing and hiring of quality people. Can I say “seething arrogance”?

Same kind of “two heads are better than one” thinking leg UGA to hire Ray Goff. That should give Ole Miss the dry heaves. Hey, but they’re Ole Miss, rebel flag and all….

Let’s go ahead and get the “Kirby Smart to Ole Miss” train going right now … the Rebs need help on defense and UGA needs some help on the recruiting trail this year.

Kirby will be this year’s Dan Mullen — sexy assistant pick to rejuvenate a program that’s fallen on hard times.

  8. They’re ok as long as no one messes with “The Grove”. Hotty Toddy is all that matters in Oxford. The Senator is correct, there is a reason they’ve never played in the SEC Championship game.

Somebody get the Internet onto the Malzahn-to-Ole-Miss train stat. I only need it to have everybody on the Plains buzzing about it for a few days.

I’d love to see them get Paul Johnson. It would be great to see how his scheme would work in the SEC and it would leaves the nerds holding on to what? If PJ loses to Fl State, UGA and does the usual swan song in a bowl, he’s going to be looking to bolt anyhow.

  11. BOBO will be available at the end of the Bowl season. He will be a good fit for Ole Miss, and an excellent out for him from the prying eyes of Dawg fans. This move should be encouraged.

Hiring Malzahn, Chavis or Smart away from a direct competitor makes sense – weaken an opponent’s staff, hire someone who knows the SEC and recruiting territory, and obtain a coach. Nutt, Tuberville and Cutcliffe proved that winning 8, 9 or 10 is possible. But it’s not gonna happen year-in-and-year-out, and this isn’t an easy job by any means. Good $$ though!
