… There was less venom Saturday, however, save for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the Bulldogs after Rambo’s interception return for a touchdown — and Richt said that was more of a mistake than an intentional infraction.
The officials warned Richt after a helmetless redshirting freshman ran near the end zone to congratulate Bruce Figgins for his touchdown, reminding the coach that rules prohibit players from running onto the field without a helmet.
Richt said the coaching staff was trying to disseminate that reminder on the sideline when Rambo returned an interception for a touchdown only three plays after Figgins’ touchdown. The Bulldogs drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct when several excited helmetless players joined in the celebration without having received Richt’s warning yet.
“As we’re trying to warn everybody one by one, which is hard to do, not long after that Rambo gets the pick and goes to the end zone and half the team runs to the end zone. I knew we were going to get a flag,” Richt said with a chuckle. “I wish I had a megaphone when I tried to warn everybody, but it was too late.”
And no doubt we’d be hearing in the media about the dangers from allowing helmetless players – plural! – to run onto the playing field.
The final conclusion: once again, Richt loses control of his sideline and laughs it off. How thuggish.

The best part about this post is that now I finally know why they threw the flag. I had not clue during the game. Everyone in my section was asking each other if they saw the excessive celebration. I watched the replay and I still could not figure out why the flag was thrown.

Just remember that in the hearts and minds of Auburn fans everywhere, Richt will always be “classless” for “running up the score” numerous times on them, ordering players to throw punches after Nick Fairley was firmly playing within the rules with a major case of unmatched intensity and hunger, wearing a different jersey than expected, and Soulja Boy dancing.

A lot of things go on during games. Refs warn or discuss things with coaches during games. My thoughts after the pic-6 that was excessive celebration…nothing directed toward Auburn…just simply players cranked up. Refs and Dawgs handles it well.
It was a good win at home against an old time rival. But Auburn is not a good team, and I do not care what anybody says and their record.
I am beginning to think this is the best overall D staff in D1. I’ll put it another way, if I am a top flite prospect in the state or southeast I’m asking my high school coaches about the Dawg staff and their D.
You can run, but they are going to track your ass down and let you feel the crush.
My concern with the team is about progress. Get better each week. Murray and Crowell have ball security issues. Crowell has maturity issues…somewhere he has to understand this is not a high school region game…this is SEC…players and men begin to separate from a high school mindset. Crowell is nested in a top notch program with some of the best coaches, players, facilities, history, and alum support in all of D1 football. Some needs to sit down with this kid and say. It does not get better than this and you have the opportunity in the next three years to make yourself financially secure for a long time. Grow up, mature, and realize your potential…this is college…have fun, but learn and prosper from it.

You know what helps with maturity? Competition. You either grow up, accept it and man up–or you skip town thinking you were entitled to a starring role. We need a solid RB in this class. One that pushes Crowell further and makes everyone better. I hope Richt is on it.

Right now UGA is the favorite to land the number 1 or 2 (depending on the scouting service you look at) running back in the nation. Keith Marshall from North Carolina. I think that would count as competition to push Crowell.
