A hearty Thanksgiving Day wish to everyone who’s dropped by here. If you’re a Dawg fan, you’ve got a lot to be grateful for this season, right?
I appreciate what’s got to be the best comments section in the Dawgosphere, so here’s a little thanks back to you, or at least those of you who are old farts like me. If you’re somebody who believes the Mick Taylor-era Rolling Stones were in fact the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World, you need to go here stat. It’s the best thing I’ve downloaded in ages. Just phenomenal.
Anyway, pig out and settle down tonight to watch the last time Texas and Texas A&M meet in the regular season. And be thankful James Franklin coaches somewhere else.

Smoked one as well, but for a friend. Smoked one two wks ago, froze the remains, and by request, the ‘Nesian’s made two lovely turkey pot pies. That with a pepper pie and any vegetables you can get your hands on with fresh buttermilk cornbread …..a good Chardonaise from Wal Mart Special and…..

As one old fart to another, Mick Taylor, my big old fart fat butt! Brian Jones was the Golden Stone. I cut my teenaged acne faced teeth on WLAC late night radio from Nashville on a transistor radio and ear phone that I hid under my pillow. I hated the bubble gum top forty pop, I was R&B all the way. The Stones were my favorite band, and Brian Jones, my favorite Stone. Unfortunately he was stoned a little too often. Tragic waste of a brilliant artist.

WQXI during the day, WLS at night for me…they didn’t play Jimi Hendrix on WQXI but they didn’t play James Brown on WLS. Good times.

Son, at the time I was talking about, nobody had heard of Hendrix. I am talking the Kings, Albert and B.B., Bobby “Blue” Bland, Sam Cook and Lightning Hopkins. John R and Hoss Man were the DJs.. I got the shock of my life a few years ago when I found out they were white!Then my Dad died. I was a rebel after that and without my football coach, my Mom, and some athletic ability I would have ended like Brian Jones or Hendrix, or Janis, bless her broken heart. So thank God for coaches that care, thank God for southern law officers that scare the crap out of you, and thank God for Moms that are tougher than nails.

While I don’t comment that often, I always read GTP–the best and most thought provoking blog on Georgia Football and College sports in general. Back in ’65 and ’66, I was in a band in South Georgia (Moultrie) and we did several Stones songs, but not always their A-side records like “It’s all over now” and “Little Red Rooster” along with some Beatles, Moody Blues, etc. Good stuff.

Hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends, and shared moments of tasteful food with talk about the Dawgs. Franklin would give anyone indigestion. Again we know who the villian was at Nashville. Franklin is the HC. It all starts there.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, we all will be thankful if out RBs are there Saturday. Almost there and no word of suspensions or injuries. That means nothing based on the RB history this season.
Hunker down one more time Dawgs for yourselves and Larry Munson.

Tough to argue the Taylor era. I mean, it may be the greatest 4 album run in rock history. BUT, I’ll throw some love to the Ron Wood era as well. “Black and Blue” is one of the most underrated albums ever.
Also, if my alternative 80’s childhood will allow, The Pixies run of “Come On Pilgrim”, “Surfer Rosa”, “Doolittle”, and “Bossanova” is amazing as well.(not to mention Trompe Le Monde)
