“It’s been real Athens … but all good things come to an end.”

So what do we make of Jordan Love being granted his release from the program?  Roster management?  Cancer removal?  Both?  Neither?

UPDATE:  Not that it’s in any way an explanation, but note the second story at this link.

Anyone know the reason why Love is gone? With Boykin leaving Love was in line to start next year.

Behold! — Malcolm Mitchell, nickleback. Not sure that would be a positive sign, however. Of course, it did not seem to my limited powers of observation that Love could cover much better than a sock puppet, so he likely saw the writing on the wall.

I’d say that the fact we’re even wondering why he left is a good sign for the program. Last year, if someone left, it was immediately assumed there was an underlying problem.

Best of luck to him wherever he lands.

  5. I’d doubt either of the above suggestions, and say the kid wanted playing time and figured he wasn’t gonna get enough behind Commings, Smith, Swann, Marshall, and any incoming signees.

I read one site that said he is leaving due to a family emergency. He asked CMR for the release yesterday, and immediately got in his car and drove home to VA. If it was a different reason (grades, discipline, etc.) he never would have come back to Athens following the bowl game. Let’s not bash the kid’s ability or confidence w/o knowing the story.

+1 So much negativity around everyone assumes the worst. If he is leaving for family reasons, good for him to step up. If he is leaving because we have improved talent, good for us.

Just a guy who wants to get on the field more often. No different than what Mason is going to do.

So… That “full of players in the secondary” with 0 public DB commits is pretty interesting.

Maybe it was his fireworks addiction. But seriously, I’d be very surprised if this was done to ‘create roster space’. With less than 4 weeks to go, we have at least 10 recruiting spots to fill. We’re gonna to have to turn a few recruits from their verbals to other schools, or we’re going to come up short.

    RE: The 2nd link
Holsey is a Auburn commit. Wonder if Trooper or Zeke helped him construct that meme.
UGA is actively recruiting Dawson and Redmon, which are listed as CBs. Now to give some credence to the claim about being full at CB, UGA was recruiting Chaz Elder (recent Gamecocks commit) as a S, but he preferred to play CB. Georgia later said he could have a shot at CB, but the initial slotting as a S could have something to do with what Holsey said.
