“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Should be an interesting ballot. Already there are multiple votes for LSU as the number one team. The format is a bit intriguing since it’s actually possible for teams to vote a tie between the other 1-loss teams, but ultimately you have to choose one that you regard slightly more than the others and hope that it balances out among other voters. I think if we were only choosing two teams, it would be worth suspending the emphasis on the top spot to get a real distribution between the top three. But that’s not the case. Looking forward to seeing this develop over the week.

I was tempted to vote for LSU but didn’t. I have a hard time giving so much more weight to a bowl game played more than a month after the season than to the body of work that is the regular season. LSU’s regular season resume is as strong as any I can ever remember. If Bama hadn’t been so dominant last night, I’d have had no trouble voting for LSU.

My 10 (alphabetically) were:
Alabama*
Arkansas
Boise
LSU
Ok State
Oregon
Stanford
USC
USCe
Wisconsin
Almost put Michigan State in. If we picked a top 11, I don’t think I would have had to think about it for a full minute.

Michigan would be #11.
If USC wasn’t on probation, they’d be in here.
Otherwise, this was pretty easy. LSU gets the nod over Alabama for me because they beat the champions of the BCS Title, Rose, Cotton, and Orange Bowls. Oh, and they won their conference.

Wow, I didn’t think about their record against bowl teams. That’s pretty incredible.

Big deal. UGA beat the champions of the Franklin American Music City Bowl, the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the Taxslayer.com Bowl.

I like it. Until we get a decent system, why not mock CFB for not having gotten this done? It is just an opinion poll, not like a real earned title. This has totally undermined the integrity of the regular season!
I do take exception to him voting Va Tech ahead of UGA.
