Ode to quarterback development

Chris Low, you little devil.

… The 2012 season has a chance to be one of the best in recent memory for SEC quarterbacks… Murray has thrown 59 touchdown passes in his first two seasons, and he also has one of the more talented backups in the league in sophomore Hutson Mason…

It’s a possible meme two-fer:  more of that SEC, Year of the Quarterback stuff, but that’s the first pundit love for Mason I think I’ve seen.  We’re only a step away from Uncle Verne’s “he’s waited his turn patiently”.

You know whom I blame for this.

Any word on what Britney Spears thinks about this?

Wait…I thought we learned definitively yesterday that Murray is no good, especially against teams ranked highly at the end of the season (who of course did not lose to us)? We know this because the NFL drafted our very large capable linemen in the middle and late rounds. I mean, if that’s not proof, what is?

    I blame Chris Low.

Quiet Chris Low, don’t jinx Mason! Remember when John Brantley used to be the best backup QB evah, and would have started over every QB in the SEC not named Tim Tebow?

Thought with Mason redshirted, LeMay became Murray’s backup. Aware that Richt could lift the redshirt, but why would he ? LeMay has shown that he is quite capable of carrying the team. I don’t get the double-speak.

      /not sure if serious…

I thought if anything happens to Murray, Mason’s redshirt would be lifted. LeMay has never taken a meaningful snap, not sure how he would fit in over Mason.

He did well in the Spring practice and Game. When Murray has things under control, I expect to see LeMay getting those same meaningful snaps as did Mason. What is it about LeMay that makes him less likely to succeed as Mason? I like Mason as well as many, but LeMay adds good running. Put LeMay in this year and watch both Mason and LeMay compete for starting position next year. Personally, I think we are loaded at QB for the next 6 years.
