How ’bout this? “In a 27-year coaching career, Chizik had never left a job because of somebody else’s decision.”
That’s what happens when you’re the guy with the program that turned in the fourth-worst offensive and third-worst defensive showings in the SEC in the last six years. Maybe we should be impressed that Auburn managed to win three games last year, given that.
It’s obvious Chizik wants to coach again. That’s why he spent the time strenuously objecting to Selena Roberts’ report the other day. (By the way, “we did it right” includes spending $77,000 to have private security enforce Auburn football player curfews during last season? Ho-kay, fine.)
“It’s been a time of reflection. I’m not one to dwell on the past and look at all the ‘what-ifs’ and things of that nature, but naturally, you reflect,” Chizik said. “But I’ve also stayed busy. I’m in a place right now where I’m continuing to map out a plan.”
Careful with that kind of talk, Geno. Remember what happened with the last SEC head coach who had a plan.
Young Gene’s periods of reflection and mapping out a plan seem to have started sometime between 1982 and 1982 when he was All-In with the Woodser at the Chi Omega house in Hogtown

Does he have the same shirt on from the ’82 Woodser?

Wow! You, sir, must have dabbled in aerial recon. I was looking at the Chi O’s and never thought about the shirt but you have come up with an awesome observation (unless of course he had two of the same) to use against him as soon as some AD forgets about 5-19 and Auburn and hires him.

What an interesting website, thanks for posting it. I found this post http://www.thewareaglereader.com/2013/04/the-entire-auburn-creed-really-was-on-that-toilet-paper-at-the-final-rolling-of-the-toomers-oaks/#.UXhUHEqyKuk especially appropriate. What better place to put the Auburn Creed?

The Aubbies are causing me to lose all respect for them by milking this dead tree thing. Man up. Plant some more. Take Harvey out. The drugstore milkshakes across the street from the trees were okay but I served hard-time there my freshman year before escaping (leaving behind many so-called relatives/friends) and thought the toilet paper idea was stupid then and it’s stupid now. Why not just egg the trees? Aside from the creed (whatever), the worst part was when they tried to make freshmen wear a ****ing beanie. That went over well. Seriously, the worst part was being out in the middle of nowhere because there was no opportunity. The best part was watching the bird fly away. It always came back but I didn’t.

I wish Roof and Chizik had stayed at Auburn

“… remember what happened to the last SEC head coach who had a plan…”
What, he fell up into the head coaching job at Southern California at which he’s entering his fourth season? I think Chizik would take that.

Gene can’t always get what he wants because, unlike the funniest man in show business, Gene typically fails on the first question of each interview: “Whose yer daddy?”

Look for this to be his last season judging from yesterday’s gtp blog. When your failed Senior QB blames you for his downer year, the one where ESPN was embarrassed after pushing him shamelessly for the Heisman to the early season detriment of Murray, then you are in the hole dug deeper category. They wiped Aaron off the board after his SC loss, but pushed Barfey until his 4th loss. All for the love of Kiffykins and Barchlay.

They have already wiped Murray and AJ McCarron off the Heisman board if College Football on ESPN is any sign neither were mentioned yesterday. Johnny Football, Boyd from Clemson and Oregon QB only.
