Can’t lose what you never had.

Bert wants the world to know he’s not really interested in signing high maintenance kids… you know, the ones that are really good.

“I want guys that leave campus and know this is what they want to be a part of. I want guys that maybe come back two or three times and say, ‘This is where I’m going.’ If they have to pick a hat, release the balloons and cut the cake on Signing Day, I probably don’t have time for them. Not to say that’s always the case, but it’s the direction I’ve leaned during my head coaching career.”

Uh huh.  Like you’ve had the choice, brah.

One day, he and Paul Johnson ought to team up and host a recruiting show.  That would be amusing.

They wouldn’t need sound. Just go with the expression on their faces.

Ya know, I kinda get where Boss Hawg is coming from. We Dawg fans have had some interesting things happen with some of the kids who want to share their signing day drama with the world.

Yep, ain’t nevah gonna change any time soon, this new “culture” of selfish behavior our society rewards is showing up everywhere. Football is such an interwoven effort of a group that folks who need the “me spotlight” on them specifically isn’t comforting. For that reason, what old Boss Hawg said is understandable, but he will end up eating those words….just like Old Fish Fry. Not liking certain behavior doesn’t mean you don’t have to tolerate it occasionally, at least in certain areas of your life. Given my druthers, I will take my chances with a man with an attitude like Trent Thompson any time over the ceremony dudes. As I recall, Murray, AJ, and Chubb entered quietly also.

So, you’re giving up on about a quarter of this year’s entering class? Like Kirby Choates?

Senator dont you know, wanting the spotlight is something entirely new to football. no one ever did it before “kids these days”.

          ahhh the good ole days.

Didnt some RB named Walker start all this signing day mess?

I mean what kind of person is Walker that he had to flip a coin to decide what school he wanted to go to months after national signing day had passed. Kids 35 years ago were just selfish kids looking for the spotlight…really has all been downhill since walker pulled his Easter signing day spotlight shenanigans.

Kids today are no different than kids at any other time.

That’s a silly thing to say. The world is a different place and norms reflect that. Not only are kids different, adults are different also.

Senator, no where near a quarter of our signing class, or any other signing class had a ceremony on Wednesday. And saying I prefer the way TT handled his doesn’t mean I dislike the others who weren’t as high profile Presumptuous on your part but yes, he is my early favorite for a leadership position down the road. Doesn’t mean everyone who has a ceremony will be a bad egg, but I will bet on those who don’t require a “look at me” stance when they haven’t left HS yet. I assume in this Politically Stupid country we can still express our preference for how we prefer people to conduct themselves, that is all I did.

While I think much of the Tech fan base is happy with Johnson’s attitude toward recruiting rankings, I find it very hard to believe the Arkansas fan base is happy with hearing their head coach say, “We’ll never be one of those teams.”

Its the SEC, ya know? I doubt “never” means what it normally does…for instance when that all-world tailback lives in Little Rock. Never actually means “till the next time I have to deal with a kid like this to get him to tote my rocks for me.”

    • OH NO! That cannot stand.;-) Do you think that Richt is underpaid or Bert is overpaid? This keeping up with the Jones is kinda silly but great for coaches. For some reason it reminded me of this joke.

A very prestigious wealthy man and his wife were having dinner at a very fine restaurant when this absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big open mouthed kiss, then says she’ll see him later and walks away.

The wife glares at her husband and says, “Who was that?”

“Oh,” replies the husband, “she’s my mistress.”

Well, that’s the last straw,” says the wife. “I’ve had enough. I want a divorce!”

“I can understand that,” replies her husband, “but remember if we get a divorce, it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris , no more wintering in Barbados , no more summers in Tuscany , no more Jaguar in the garage and no more yacht club. But the decision is yours.”

Just then, a colleague of the husband enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm.

“Who’s that woman with Matt ?” asks the wife.

“That’s his mistress,” says her husband.

      “Ours is prettier,” she replies.

Let the kids have a moment in the sun. Why is picking up a hat on TV such a BFD with some people? It only lasts a moment and for the vast majority, its likely going to be one of the few highlights in their life.

Easy… No need to lump Johnson in with this moron.

Though, they do both have 2 SEC wins over the past 2 seasons.
