The silver lining in the cloud of meh

Yes, 2016 has turned out to be a largely forgettable year if you’re a Georgia fan.  Which is not the same thing as saying there haven’t been certain pleasures worth savoring.

For example, Booch will walk away with this season’s doing the least with the most in the SEC East award.  (No, Mark Richt didn’t retire the award.  Smart ass.)  That’s only a little part of the fun, though.  Way more enjoyable is discovering how inept he is with spin.

I swear, you can’t make shit like that up.  I just hope UT’s learned the wrong lesson from its coaching carousel and lets him hang around for a while.  He’s fun.

I needed that today. UT will always be the laughingstock of the SEC least.

Interesting…I would like them to be overrated as they usually are. It is so trite, but. . Nothing sucks like a big orange.

Well it took a whole year to get them 8 wins. Come on. If it was easy it would only take 8 weeks!

Confession: I never gave two hoots in hell about the Vols when I was a kid. We didn’t play them all that often so they were just another SEC team. Then in 1988 I moved to Tennessee, and they quickly vaulted to the top of my most-hated list. Now I hate those obnoxious jackasses and their square dancing theme song. Anytime the Vols are in turmoil, air smells sweeter, food tastes better, and I sleep a little bit more soundly. I hope Sgt. Carter sticks around a good long while; they deserve each other.

^^^^this. So much this. I was held captive by those inbred hillbillies for 6 years and while I hate Florida as any good Dawg should, when the Vowels suck all is right with the world.

I hate the Vowels more than any other SEC program–even FU. But when it comes to hoping Bootch stays forever, well he’s the most successful head football coach they have had since Phat Phil and he has beaten UGA the last 2 years. Just sayin.’ Maybe we should hope that he gets offered another job and takes it. Then the Vowels can go through what they have gone through the last 10+ years all over again.

He did beat us, but it took his best senior laden teams to beat our coach fired and freshman laden teams by a hair. They’ll never have the worst coaches, but he’s certainly average to mediocre.

This. We don’t have a lot to crow about in the TN department lately.

Seems DC Shoop wasn’t the big difference maker we figured he’d be.

As much as I despise ut, I’m not so smug. Their OC and OL coaches supposedly suck, but they appear to be head and shoulders above what we’ve got.

I have hated all things Gator for over 40 years, but contrast the thread about UF’s coach this morning with Butch Jones and it is evident why I wanted UF to go to Atl over UT.

How ’bout that Bob Shoop hire? 13th in rushing defense ain’t bad is it? They’ve still got a great shot at last before the season’s over.

And the irony is that Shoop allegedly left Penn State because Franklin was on the hot seat. Now PSU looks like they’ll be in the BIG10 championship game and is ranked in the top 10 and Bosch is the one who’s seat is getting real warm.

Agree Senator, never expected the face plant that was UT this year. Even with injuries, Booch has had 3 years of very good recruiting classes, so no excuses about depth plus even when his guys were all healthy early in the season, they still looked terrible.

Mizzou, most total yards even against the vaunted Vol defense led by Shoop. Another great HC hire by TN, heard he has commitments of almost twenty 3 Star recruits thus far. Also had two starters quit the team in mid-season this fall, things are starting to smell again on Rocky Top.

Now you just hope Vandy can get bowl eligible against them next week. Speaking of Vandy, what a home run hire Kingsbury would be for Mason’s OC when Pretty Boy is fired at TT. If I were Vandy, I would back a Brinks truck up in Lubbock, lasso him and head to Music City. They need that type of Big 12 offense to compete with the athletes they are able to get.

I definitely think the weaker power 5 programs should run a version of the spread. That way they only need to have a couple athletes better than their peers, not an entire 11 man offense.

You may see it differently, but Sgt. Carter didn’t beat us, either year. I know every one likes to place all blame or credit on the coach but most of what they do happens before the team takes the field, or even begins the year. Butch isn’t someone I would dodge, or be concerned about facing, in any contest. He seems lower third of the HC community, imo.

I don’t care whether they beat us or not – I always find joy in our rivals’ misery.

Perceptions of the season of meh: does yesterday’s Vandy/Ole Miss result make you feel worse about our Ole Miss loss or better about our Vandy loss? I know Kelly played against us and not Vandy, but that Ole Miss curbstomping is inexcusable.

This is a grade A example of the fact that college teams can change mightily over the course of a season. Ole Miss looked like world beaters early and Vandy made South Carolina’s D look like Bama’s.

The quality of The Senator’s blog is not helped by disregarding the Vols rash of injuries this season. Based on those injuries they haven’t had bad season.

All for Kirby think he can get it done but rocky top beat us and we didn’t exactly run for 400. Coach Propst has said it before Uga runs the wrong offense. All of the best receivers leave the state of Ga because we don’t run the spread O . Bama has even switched because those were the teams that beat em. Utah , Auburn , Texas AM , Ohio st. Jokelahoma. Cam , Nick Marshall , Watson , Dobbs , and the list goes on. ( all from the state of Ga ) and the only one we sign plays Db. Herman wanted the job and we don’t answer the phone. Maybe pick up next time

    • If we take care of the OL in the state that we let get away for 15 years, then we can worry about WR. Mitchell, Conley, Bennett? All GA kids. Literally everything else is secondary to getting a top tier OL.

How does Ga southern run for 440 and complete 0 passes and win 26-20 and we have Gurley and Murray and get 23 and less total yards. You think their line was better than ours or maybe it’s the scheme. How does Houston ring up Louisville with 0 o line. How does navy beat Houston. Dig what you say about o line but even bama has switched because those were the teams that beat em with scheme

S J gotta say that one is pretty damn good. I’m just a spread guy myself . Went to Gsc in the 80s and still thought I had too much beam when I saw double slots and no tight ends and we would run the same 5 plays and score 50 . Rock on brother good to chat with you.
