I forgot to mention yesterday that the blog turned ten. As the saying goes, time flies when you’re having a good time.
Anyway, it’s been a blast. And thanks to everyone who visits, whether you comment or are content to sit back and read. You’ve all helped grow this place from the tiny drop of water it was at the start to the small pond it is today. GTP is a great place and I’m proud to be a part of it.
Oh, and thanks again, Reggie Ball. I couldn’t have done this without you, dog.
Congrats!

Congrats and a heartfelt thank you! You are my (and I’m guessing many others) Georgia football spirit animal…a vital voice in the wilderness for smart, sober and entertaining analysis about our collective irrational obsession with 18-22 year old men. Cheers to 10 more years.

I’ve been visiting since ’08. Great site, good posts, and the peanut gallery is always a hoot.
How about 10 Years After, ” I’d Love to Change the World” as an MPC?
Thanks for the hard work, Senator.

I can’t remember when I started reading. GTP has been a part of my daily routine for so long, it’s hard to remember a time before it. It’s the Dawg-related content that hooks me, but I’ll credit the Senator with persuading me on some of the other CFB issues that he often blogs about, such as paying college athletes and CFB playoffs. Two more things I like: the Senator’s writing doesn’t leave me constantly cringing at the grammatical atrocities that the AJC, et al, seem to be foisting upon us these days. In a world in which it seems no one can be bothered to re-read what he wrote before publishing, the writing here is a breath of fresh air. And second, the comments at GTP are often just as enjoyable as the original posts. Somehow, this blog has collected, and retained, the best of the bunch when it comes to UGA fans. We may not always agree with each other, but in the end, we all want the same thing: glory, glory, to ol’ Georgia.

You’re too kind. Trust me, I do enough cringing about my writing sometimes to cover the both of us.

We all cringe at our own writing, or at least we should. It’s the writers that don’t cringe that worry me. 😉

Awesome! Yesterday was my daughter’s 10th birthday, so I can tell you exactly what I was doing on the day you started this blog (mostly making terrible jokes in the delivery room and getting fussed at by my wife). Keep up the good work.

I came here via the Georgiasportsblog around the time of the 2009 GA/Fl game.
Great writing for a “country dirt lawyer”.

Congratulations Senator! Not sure about the “small pond” characterization though, any idea if other programs have an independent blog with this type of activity? 33 million seems enormous for one blog related, primarily, to one collegiate team, and one sport. Keep it up, far too many of us would be unable to fill the time void if you took off to tour the country in the new wheels.

Can’t get my work day off to the correct start without shirking my duties here first. I know I haven’t read GTP for every single day of ten years, but I’d say it’s a solid cumulative nine plus. Thank you so very much for all that you do. Here’s to ten more.

This is exactly what I was thinking–as the company intranet loads each morning…so does GTP. I’m also really excited about the fact that whenever my boss walks up behind me, this spot is always on my screen. Thanks for helping me not get that raise Senator!!

Glad I found this place several years ago. Too many “team blogs” are full of venom and insanity. This place, while it does get intense at times, demonstrates the respect we can have for different opionions on something very passionate to us all. I spent 30 years in the Army, most of it overseas where Georgia football could be hard to find. I spent New Years night driving in my car around Soelden, Austria trying to pick up the 1982 Georgia-Penn State game on AFN Frankfurt. Kept fading in and out and the local police thought I was insane. So for all the times I had a hard time getting even a score, this has been a Godsend. Thanks for all your work and congratulations on the 10th.

UGA fans are blessed with several great fan sites. But to echo others here, the combination of useful information, provocative commentary and “writing English good” make yours my most frequented sports related site, even if I comment infrequently. I’ll add this: you’ve attracted (at least on average!) a group of balanced, rational commenters–anyone looking for a quality comparison need only visit the comments to DawgNation articles. J
