I’m truly torn by this Tray Matthews story.
On the one hand, it sounds like he’s matured considerably since his Athens days and made something better of his character. That’s totally admirable on his part and I don’t mind saying so.
On the other hand, how can I pass up Malzahn calling the same kid who got arrested for stealing checks and then kicked out of school by Mark Richt after further misbehavior “… the leader of our defense and really our team leader” without rolling on the floor laughing my ass off?
I ask you, what’s a poor blogger to do?
Sounds like CMR did the kid a huge favor.

he’s certainly the team leader in leap frogging opposition RBs. It’s a bidness decision, but you can see he brings a lot of athleticism to getting helicoptered while avoiding as much actual contact as possible.

This. Maybe Trey can lead all the Auburn DBs to missing tackles on Chubb since he doesn’t like tackling live telephone poles.

I really hope somebody freight trains his ass and blows out one of his knees this year. That guy is a miserable excuse for a human.

BTW, he was quoted as saying “I have always been a great kid.” Major asshole there just to say that.

Auburn’s greatest leader of the past two decades stole a computer and likely committed academic fraud at his previous institution and then violated NCAA rules on compensation to come play for the Tigers, so… yeah, this checks out.

It wasn’t directly, but he’s the only player I remember CMR ever calling out in the media as being soft. He questioned his work ethic and toughness for missing so much time with hamstring problems, which he was led to believe by Courson that Trigga could have worked through with more commitment. And the biggest hit he’s ever made was on the floor when Paris Bostick beat his ass.

Maybe he is the highest character guy on Auburn’s team
