“Rocky Top”? Never heard of it.

Jeremy Pruitt has discontinued playing music during Tennessee practices, which, of course, is his business.  This is some explanation as to why, though.

Why?

“I don’t think they play music during football games,” Pruitt said after Tuesday’s practice. “I’ve never heard it.”

He’s wrong about the first, but, somehow, I don’t doubt him on the second.  That’s being dialed in to your job.

There are times I wish I could learn that trick.

My Vol buddy isn’t happy about the hire. Bamaification and all that. But I think Pruitt will do well and they get 5 wins this season.

So I’ve been told, which is why Sanford stadium now blasts obnoxious music during home games, thus rendering the Redcoat band almost superfluous. I feel sorry for those Redcoat members that practiced so hard to be a member of the band, only to see their playing time cut in half due to the heinous piped-in music.

I’d love to interview the kid who turned down a scholarship at Tenn, UGA or any other top flight program because they didn’t play music during practice. Not sure I’d want that kid in my program!!!

Aren’t there some kids that you need to chase off of your lawn or something?

Your first paragraph is spot on. Another advantage colleges had over the NFL but willing to squander. Bad model to emulate, imo. Spit in the face of your paying customers at your own risk as you are left holding your pud expecting the Millenials to pick up even a reasonable portion of the slack.

          Millenial-trashing. Original.

We need to retroactively start calling your generation “The Most Insecure” generation. “Snowflake” generation, even. Yes, that has a nice ring to it. You’re definitely the “unearned sense of entitlement” generation, no question about that.

the weird part is I understand what Pruitt is talking about. When you’re in the zone during a game, it’s like being in the Cone of Silence. You only see/hear what is right on the field/court in front of you. Pruitt seems like an intense enough guy that he could actually operate 24/7 in the Cone, but I suspect he was trolling Vol fans a little bit just to let them know there’s a new Sheriff in town.

Does this mean Foolmer has approved this? Or does he have the balls to override this public position by Cone Head? Let the head banging begin.

Kinda reminds me of Mark Richt’s halftime quote during the 03 Clemson game: “They can get hot after the game.”

I hope that means they get rid of that damn, “3rd Down, let’s go, 3rd Down, let’s go” jingle they play when the Vols are on D. That shyt annoys the hell out of me.

Indeed it’s absolutely horrid. It’s like some rap/techo combo you’d expect to hear as you walk past a seedy Berlin nightclub. I was laughing as they were still playing it down 24-0 at the time with total silence from the crowd.

They play that third down for what that is a takeoff of Little johns turn down for what . I like the song but it gets old after about 3 third downs.
