Musical palate cleanser, gone too soon edition

Lowell George would have been 73 today.  Instead, he passed away when he was 34, sad to say.

Anyway, here’s a clip from better times — Little Feat, with the help of a few friends, playing “Dixie Chicken”.  Enjoy.

Hard to argue with Little Feat!

And even though I haven’t lived in Atlanta in over 30 years, I still consider it home. https://youtu.be/tyyq_Mye6so

“Hey Mama hey let me check your oil, alllll-right!”
One of my very very favorites. Although these days it’s closer to “Old Folks Boogie” than the bright lights of Memphis. “Cause you know a thought’s as good as a thrill”

Ahhh… seeing Emmylou and Bonnie at that age is a sight for my sore old eyes. I just wish we could have heard them a little better.

He’s one of my all-time favorites. Often wonder how much more great music he would have created.

Love Little Feat. Sailing to Columbus is essential. Also check out Lowell’s solo album. 20 million things is one of my favorite songs. His hair on the cover art is also something I can get behind.

Spotcheck Billy got down on his hands and knees………..

Had tickets to see him at the Agora Ballroom. He died, i think the night before. Turned the tickets in for a refund because I was a broke college student and I think they may have been around $7. Wish I still had them.

Little Feat and Lowell are a staple of both the pre and post game mix.

Excellent palette cleanser. They’re live Waiting For Columbus are one of the classic albums, and the Join the Band/Fat Man in the Bathtub is my favorite live concert entry of all time.

Tripe Face Boogie blasted through the town of Athens in 1977, out of our set of 4 JBL’s. We aimed the speakers out the windows and the only complaints came from the Holiday Inn next door. They didn’t like us anyway because we filled our coolers with all their ice.

    • but …but …they skipped the part about”my money flowed like wine” and “I don’t remember church bells or the money I put down on the white picket fence at the edge of town.” I could always relate to that part on Sunday morning wondering where all my cash went. One of my favs.

  15. Went to see ELO and the intro band was a band named Little Feat. Did not know anything about them. They stole the show from ELO and I became a big time fan. Have seen them quite a few times-with and without George. waiting for Columbus is one Great album-one great band.

It’s often been forgotten that George was for a bit a member of the Mothers of Invention, and that his first band appeared on both F Troop and Gomer Pyle, USMC. He was a Hollywood boy, but boy did he overcome that. “Fat Man in the Bathtub” is one of my favorite songs by anyone ever.
