Okay, maybe it’s not as big a deal as when the Big Four decided to pass on entering the NFL draft before last season, but Deandre Baker’s decision to play one more year in Athens is still big. How big? Welp,
Lockdown corners don’t grow on trees and having one makes things easier when you’ve got to replace two/three starters in the secondary. So, yeah, big.

And if Webb or Campbell live up to their hype/billing, we might have two lockdown corners on our hands this fall. Can you imagine the boost that would provide our D?

Agreed. McShay had Baker has a top 10 pick in his way too early mock draft. If Baker continues his game to that level and another youngin on the other side develop, Walker and Grant are going to be teeing off on opposing tackles.

When a kid, either a potential recruit or an actual newbie, meets Baker, they shake hands and must think, “Wow!! this guy will absolutely be in the NFL less than a year from now. I might need to emulate his ways..on and off the field”, it’s a bigger deal than we imagine. Especially when said kid follows though with his desire to emulate.
This is treasure passed down from Sony, Nick and R. It is a large part of the basis of the new Georgia team culture. It’s especially meaningful at this point where Georgia is just approaching the pinnacle of unequaled richness of talent, but still needs that experienced catalyst. This is the legacy of the four that returned in ’17. Leadership and mentoring.
CKS must be given credit for getting all of these stars to return and play that final year. It’s a lot easier to do when you’re winning..winning is fun. Let’s hope returning seniors is a permanent trend at Georgia, while making life so miserable at UT, UF, etc. that all of their players bolt after three.
