“I’m pretty sure everyone knows that being a champion is very possible.”

As someone who’s still scarred by the memories of that 2015 debacle against Alabama — easily one of the three most miserable experiences in my life as a Georgia fan — it is somewhat surreal to read a quote like this from Nick Saban.

… It was no surprise, then, that when Saban was asked on a recent spring afternoon about Georgia’s recent rise to the top of the sport, his answer centered on longevity.

“We have a tremendous amount of respect for them and what they do, and they have a really good program, but at the same time, I think we have a really good program,” he said…

“Georgia has won two national championships in a row, so I’d say for the moment they are the best. They’ve proven on the field that they are the best for the last two years. But success is not a continuum for us. It’s not a continuum for anyone.”

Speaking of continuums…

But this is a unique challenge even for Alabama, where every high school recruit who has stayed with Saban at least three years has won a national championship.

It has been two seasons without one.

“The standard here is to be a champion,” said Alabama defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry. “That’s all we know.”

Not lately, pal.

I think they take a pretty big step back this year. They will be in need of a QB and counting on pulling one from the portal is a poor strategy for the most important player on the team. Also, I’m not sure they have very good WRs again this year.

I can envision three losses this season for them.

Thats a lot of home losses. More likely they grind out an sec west championship given how their schedule lines up. All the toughest games are in t-town. They still have lots of talent and depth and I’m imagining they feel they need to prove they still matter. Not relying on an uber talented/experienced qb may actually help them. When we had to throw Jake Fromm out there everyone really stepped up. Same with Stet in 2021.

I predict a blood bath game in Atlanta. An old fashioned slobber knocker.

I just hope its an elimination game for their side.

  3. I imagine if you injected Nick Saban with truth serum, he would let everyone know how unhappy he was that Oklahoma State didn’t make that 4th and goal in the 2021 Big 12 title game. He knew they would have to beat us twice to win the national championship at that point. Kirby also knew we were in regardless of the result in MBS. I’m not saying he threw the game, but he had to know something was up with his team that week – health or mental.

Putting them down and keeping them there is the last remaining piece.

As it stands now we’ve won 1 over Alabama since 2007. Don’t really want to tally the losses since then but I know it was a lot. The one win was an important one, but we haven’t finished them off. Yet. That may because they gagged twice in the regular season last year. But eventually they’re gonna show up and we need to show the world that things have changed. Send Satan into retirement and let them whine away in their insecurity and irrelevance for a couple of decades.

So let it be written, so let it be done…

Fuck’em. Saban can eat a bowl of dicks.

Bama just got used by a mediocre QB to get a better NIL deal from his current mediocre football team.

THAT is where Bama is right now in the pecking order.

Tyler Van Dyke. It was a whole thing last week.

Bama tried to tamper with him by offering him more money than Miami was, and he used that to leverage Bama’s interest in him to get a better NIL deal from John Ruiz, the Miami super-booster.

  6. I’m happy that we got the monkey off our backs. But no way Bama or Saban are done for. They kicked the shit out of one of our best teams ever just a season ago. Maybe they’re not what they were, but I won’t count Saban out until he retires.

Without a great QB that can run around and make great plays and great WR’s, Alabama will have to play more man ball and I don’t know if you can make that transition in one year.
Don’t get me wrong. Thay will be tough next year, but I don’t know how tough.

I agree that Bama can’t win they way they did when Kiffin changed the offense. Little Nick’s original blueprint was a game manager QB and crushing defense. The new coordinators point to what he wants. He is going back to original recipe Nick Saban football.

They also became very soft. I bet that really chaps his ass too. Little Nick is making his final push in the next couple of years. He’s extremely focused it won’t be like Bobby Bowden’s farewell. Nick sees the buzzards circling somebody has got to pay. Teams and dreams will be crushed. Too bad for Bama it won’t be us.

It’s very comforting to know Kirby is on it.

  9. Personally, I will be happy when no one is talking about Bama at all. Unless it’s a debate about how that new coach was a terrible hire.

I like to look at the scores of Bama and Georgia’s common opponents. There appears to be a gap that is growing wider. The Tide was most fortunate to avoid a contest with the Dawgs last season and don’t want any of that this season. I’m hoping Kirby will light ‘em the fuck up simply to prove a point.

Last years team was built to crush a team like Saban fielded last season. If given the chance I believe Monken and SBIV would have lit them up mercilessly.

How glorious could it be if we see an entire Bama class come and go without having won a championship?

As long as Saban is coaching Alabama I will never say anything negative about the program. They are an opponent to be respected.

This is the first time in Saban’s tenure at Alabama that they have fewer than 2 national championships in any 5-year period. For instance, from 2007-2011 they had 3. Same from 2008-2012. They had 2 from 2015-2019. But from 2018-2022, they have had only 1. I think that shows both how dominant they have been for a long time, and how they have taken a step back, albeit a small step. Of course, if they win another one this year, they will have 2 from 2019-2023, and the rumors of their demise will have been greatly exaggerated. May Kirby and the Dawgs hasten their demise.

My buddies and I call McKinstry “Great Value Flavored Drink McKinstry.” He’s never played nearly well enough to have the coolest (ahem… “koolest”) nickname in the game.
