You just keep on using me until you use me up

I don’t know if that story is true, but I hope so.  Must be the romantic in me.

My favorite? “Alabama is looking for their own Stetson Bennett”… After trashing this kid for the last two/three years – they are looking for their own Stetson Bennett..

Just warms the heart, doesn’t it.

Exactly so. To paraphrase what Karl Marx once wrote:
“A specter is haunting Alabama – the specter of Honkey McFailson.” 😁

Sounds exactly like a free agent contract negotiation.

It’s great to be looking down from the top of the hill watching rivals failing. Enjoying every minute of the ride.

I really want Bama to totally fall off. Like losing to Southern Miss, Auburn beating them 5x in a row, going 6-6 in a good year, talking themselves into hiring John Parker Wilson or AJ McCarron in ten years but I don’t believe that trying to get a QB who was good prior to last season means that the end is nigh.
It does mean that Simpson, Milroe and whoever else are not good enough to be the QB that they have become dependent on. Which means that they still don’t have the linemen and “toughness” that they formerly had.
If I were a betting man I would take Bama and the points against Tennessee because 1) I think Tennessee will regress 2) Saban has only lost two in a row to the same team I think 3 times since he has been at Bama [LSU 2010-2011, Ole Miss 2014-2015, Clemson 2016,2018] and I am sure that Bama will be ready. BUT if they somehow lose to Tennessee with the above being said I will be more ready to say that the end is a lot closer than it seemed in December 2021.

  8. Bama can’t automatically get whoever they want.

    REC got out bid.

Bama struggling at this late stage of the process to find a QB.

It can happen to anybody, but I’m damn happy it’s happening to them now.

This would be even greater if Saban was tampering (again) with Van Dyke and got shafted when it came down to cash. This is how it feels to be on the other side of Jimmy Sexton, Nick.

I think this is a bigger issue. Players, especially quarterbacks, can at the last second of the portal opening tell their school that if they don’t pay them $xxx they’re leaving.

While I appreciate a star player’s negotiating posture, it can’t be good for the long-term health of the sport.
