“It’s just the way that it’s worked out.”

It really is wild.  Georgia heads into the early signing date with the nation’s top recruiting class without a commitment from a single player in the state’s top ten recruits. ($$)  Eight members of the class are from Georgia, which is less than 30%.  And as you can see from this chart, it was like that last year, as well.

It’s especially wild because Georgia is one of the most talent rich states in the country when it comes to football recruiting.  It’s not because they’re not trying, either.  (This is Kirby Smart we’re talking about, after all.)

“They’re unbelievable. They’re tenacious,” said Travis Noland, the head coach at Jefferson High School and the home of five-star linebacker Sammy Brown, who committed to Clemson over the Bulldogs. “There’s not gonna be a player in the state of Georgia that they don’t know about, I can tell you that for sure. They do an unbelievable job.”

This is what comes of elevating your recruiting prowess to a truly national level.

TFW you confuse mediocrity with grandeur

I guess if you ask the typical Stingtalk commenter, Georgia Tech is coming off the greatest 6-6 season in college football history.

I mean, consider this comment thread header:  “What year will we make the CFP?”  Even better, dig this take:

You had a nice run, Georgia.  Too bad there’s a new sheriff in town… on a somewhat regular basis.

Investing those NIL dollars wisely

With Raiola’s flip to Nebraska, I assume that means there’s some money in the recruiting/NIL budget that’s been freed up.  If you had your druthers, how would you like to see Smart spend it?

Me, I’d sure like to take a shot at seeing if I could outbid Junior for Walter Nolen’s services.  And you?

Georgia’s punter has a few thoughts on Carson Beck’s return for the ’24 season.

After his football career is over, the dude has a real future in comedy.
