In his next life, Michael Adams wants to come back as Gordon Gee.

Since 2007, between salary and expenses, Ohio State’s president has cost the school over sixteen million dollars.  My favorite part:

The university spends tens of thousands of dollars alone branding Gee around his signature bow ties. Since 2007, Ohio State has spent more than $64,000 on bow ties, bow tie cookies and O-H and bow tie pins for Gee and others to distribute, the newspaper found.

“It’s a nice icebreaker. The freshmen show up on campus and President Gee hands them a cookie. They love it. The students love it,” OSU spokesman Jim Lynch said.

Branding the president.  Not bad work if you can get it.

“The university spends tens of thousands of dollars alone branding Gee around his signature bow ties”

I got excited about the possibility for Adams until I realized it wasn’t a scorching-hot branding iron. If we give Adams a cookie now will he leave early?

I’ve heard (and now that he’s a short-timer I don’t know if it’s true) that there are still plenty of people around who would like to brand MFA

I think tOSU jumped the shark on branding Gee when he cut all those Six Flags commercials…

“OSU said rigorous standards are used in reviewing Gee’s expenses.”

Are these the same rigorous standards used in reviewing the extra benefits to OSU’s players?

No truth yet to the rumor that their branding campaign was titled, “Commit to the Gee”.

They tried this at UGA orientation, but nobody wanted to take much less eat a cookie that had been made to look like an a–hole.

I wear a bow tie periodically to work and it’s become sort of a thing.

I just sent an e-mail to my boss asking for a humble $32,000 expense to cover my bow ties.

    I’ll report back.

Actually he gives out apples. Don’t tell me that none of you have heard of them. Awright, awright, I’ll lay off the puns.

Does the branding mean that we can sell jerseys with his name on them? And with epithets on front that are answered by his name on the back? i.e.; Who is the largest land holder in Costa Rico? Answer on back. Silk screen your own question on front. All the money realized can go to Burnette’s wedding reception. Or to private investigators to research Adam’s last 10 yrs.

Wondered when Costa Rica would come up, +1 Coj….ya know, I am not sure Georgia is too far behind the branding expense curve. That Mikey, he could spend him some other folks’ money, him.

“Branding” Gordon Gee? Yeah, I’m sure there are thousands of OSU students who said to themselves, “You know, I was kind of on the fence about going to Ohio State, but then I met their out-of-touch president who looks like Orville Redenbacher’s dorky younger brother and makes Barney Fife look like a pillar of gravitas by comparison, and he gave me a cookie . . . I’m sold!”

I read the article, and I don’t see the issue, here.

I mean, the article seems to be written by one of his detractors, and he still come across as wildly successful for the school.

I mean what’s he supposed to do when he goes to Washington to woo some politician or multi-million dollar donor? Stay at the Days Inn 30 minutes outside of town, pick up the guy up in his rental compact car and take him to Denny’s?

        E. Gordon’s been successful everywhere except Brown where he may have been r-u-n-n-o-f-t. He was very popular with students at Vanderbilt when my daughter was there. Aside from his general overall schmaltzy behavior as a wild and crazy Mormon, he is a prodigious fundraiser which therefore allows him do anything he wants such as checking into The Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, bitches
