As much as we all may bitch and moan about things these days, it’s reassuring to see that places like Scott’s Variety Store and Bar-B-Q are still alive and well.
I mean, how bad can life be when there’s serious barbeque to be had?

Man oh man. There is a BBQ place in Auburndale Fla called Peeples and it has the pit in the dining room. No AC long tables and sauce I could drink. They are only opened Thursday thru Saturday, and they close June through August. When they are open you can’t get in the place.

Mmmmm, BBQ. Finally got around to Jot ’em Down after 4 years in Athens. They just moved over by Showtime Bowling. Good stuff – definitely don’t miss the stew.

Love it. Love it. Love it.
And from the NYT no less.
It’s the simple things that make life grand.

I love that sign: ‘Pit Cook’. Remember Walter & Ralph’s on West Broad St.? Same error.
I live near Hemingway & haven’t been to Scott’s. Brown’s BBQ in Kingstree is the big name in that area. I’ll give Scott’s a try and report findings.
