Big boys

Take a minute to read David Hale’s blog post on the coalescence of the offensive line.  It’s grounds for optimism, that’s for sure.  In fact, the only thing that could make me happier would be talk that one of the defensive ends was unblockable by these guys.

There’s still time for that, though.

And I love Sturdivant’s quote about Chris Burnette.

“But everything that we’ve put in front of him, he knows. We can call any call, and he just spits it out just like that. I know he had a 5.8 GPA in high school, and it’s definitely transferring.”

  1. Yes, it appears Burnette may have a solid chance at avoiding a redshirt. Smart kid.

Have we ever had that kind of depth on the O-line since Richt’s been here? The 02 and 05 teams were solid with first string guys, but that may be the deepest we’ve ever been. This is good to see, seems like O-line has either been a concern or “about to be a concern” since that one class where Donnan didn’t sign a single guy (99 or 00?), and then all those shoulder injuries in Richt’s classes. What is it with UGA and shoulder injuries and shoulder nudges?
    I digress.

Chris Burnette seems as if he is Matt and Jon Stinchcomb smart.

Calm down everybody. I love these men on the OL as much as everyone else. They are damn good dawgs, but has everyone forgotten our spring game? Our much maligned DC stuffed our offense. I hope the fall version of the OL is more sucessful than the spring version.

Carlton Thomas (RB) – 8 rushes for 59 yards, 1 TD
Caleb King (RB) – 7 rushes for 22 yards
Shaun Chapas (FB) – 3 rushes for 25 yards
Marcus Washington (LB) – 3 sacks
Marcus Dowtin (LB) – 2 sacks
Kalvin Daniels (RB) – 3 rushes for 20 yards
Justin Houston (DE) – 3 sacks

Keep in mind 3 of Hale’s listed starting 5 didn’t play in the spring game. A few of the second teamers didn’t either. I’m withholding my enthusiasm for the D-line accomplishments until after labor day.

  6. Jeez. A 5.8 GPA? Bet you anything the kid’s stereo goes up to 12.

    11 is for sissy speakers.

It’s hard to beat a BIG smart guy with quick feet! They say championships are won with defense, I’m not so sure that they aren’t won with O-lines.
