Not, of course, at Georgia, which looks down from a much higher moral high ground….
One would be left, after viewing the policies of both Georgia and Florida, to wonder if Georgia should re-consider its rules in light of the results on the field.
Apparently, in Gainesville, smoking dope is the functional equivalent of “emerging from an alley” in Athens.
After watching the Florida offense against Florida State this year I must wonder if the same rules apply to the former offensive staff.

I must protest the use of the word “toker” as synonymous with someone who smokes marijuana.
I used to have many friends who enjoyed a toke now and then, but none of them were “tokers”, they smoked dope, were heads, potheads, or among the enlightened cognescenti, but were not “tokers”.
In a side note, I never inhaled, but those who did, of course, moved on to heroin, became junkies and are now, some of them, forced to work as SEC football officials.

Didn’t Foolmer give a RB a 4th chance 3-4 years ago since the third strike wasn’t enough? I have no problem admitting all schools have “bad guys”, but when our 20 year old get held out for simply having a beer, or not paying a ticket, and UT lets a guy play with three failed drug tests, and UF let’s “time to die” play, things just aren’t even close to level. I want them all to get suspended for bad behavior, not just ours.

He wasn’t suspended. He was kicked off the team “indefinitely.” Or, at least until the Georgia game. Plus, he had to do 10 hours of community service. I bet he’s learned his lesson. 😉

Do you really think 5 games was adequate for that? I am well aware that he was off the team, but miraculously appeared to help Urbie against UGA and breathe some life into that offense. My feeling is he should have been off the team, sent packing, comprende? I recall when that story broke in the summer, I heard numerous Florida fans say they would withdraw their support from the program if he ever played another down at UF. I felt Florida fans would draw a line at that type of action, but I was obviously wrong.
I have not ever seen CMR excuse this level of behavior, he would have kicked Rainey off and UGA fans would have universally supported that. I can honestly say I would not support UGA, or CMR, if he had tolerated what Rainey did by giving a simple 5 game suspension. This isn’t a court of law, he was guilty enough, no excuses. It doesn’t matter if the victim backed off, or the DA reduced charges. You can argue all you want, but he should be in jail, not getting ready for a bowl game.

Not trying to be picky here, but why does Georgia not get listed among the schools with the toughest policies in the article? Auburn got listed and we have the same policy, except that there is a suspension after the first positive test on ours, and not on theirs. Weird.

In the version I read, Georgia was listed in the second paragraph as suspending for at least one game for a positive test.
