Here’s Phil Steele’s breathless analysis of Georgia-Tennessee:
The Bulldogs have been hammered in their last two trips to Knoxville (‘07 and ‘09). They have been outscored on avg 40-17 (outgained 442-242). In ‘09 UGA was held without an offensive TD and in ‘07 trailed 28-0. UT HC Derek Dooley is the son of legendary UGA HC Vince Dooley and was born and raised in Athens, GA. Last year, Georgia posted its largest margin of victory at home against Tennessee since ‘81 in a 41-14 win. The Bulldogs have now won 3 straight since their 0-2 start and HC Mark Richt’s seat has cooled. Last week a pregame skirmish where the Mississippi St players were jumping on the “G” logo at midfield had the Bulldogs fired up as UGA had a 315-213 yard edge over MSU in the 24-10 win and the only TD they gave up came on a 72 yard interception return. QB Aaron Murray is averaging 220 yards per game (62%) with a 13-6 ratio while super frosh Isaiah Crowell now has 515 rushing yards (5.2). Last week the Vols cruised past Buffalo 41-10 as they racked up a 541-264 yard edge. QB Tyler Bray should be getting some All-SEC love as he is now averaging 332 yards per game (69%) with a super 14-2 ratio. The Vols are off a bye week and Buff so UGA should have their full attention. UGA does have slight edges on offense (#19-24) and defense (#13-28) but a huge edge on ST’s (#15-105)…

Get The Picture 
I’m just not buying the all world comparisons by UT fans about Tyler Bray. Give me a break. Our defensive stats match well with UF (or better) and he was not a factor in that game. My prediction is he’ll get knocked out of the game. We match up better in every team category and agains better teams than they gave played. Again, Dawgs by 17
All bets off if team has one of those USC self destruct games where theyre handing the ball over with touchdowns

The only thing that makes me nervous about this game is that UT had a bye week, then played Buffalo last week. Essentially UT has had 3 weeks of practice to get ready for the Dawgs as you know they spent very little time preparing for Buffalo. The ’07 and ’09 games are ancient history and mean nothing. The UT coaching staff is completely different, as is their team, and almost none of the UGA players were even playing then certainly not the core group of starters we have now. The only thing different from last season for UT is Bray and, frankly, I am not nearly as impressed with him as the media seems to be. He was the beneficiary of a weak schedule at the end of last season when Dooley made him the starter and a weak schedule for the first 1/3 of this season. Bray has only played against 2 real football teams (UNC in the bowl game and Florida this season) and lost to both of them. BTW if Derek Dooley ever sees Phil Simms anywhere he better run the other way as you know that Simms has got to be pissed about how Dooley abused his son, letting him get the snot beaten out of him in the tough games last season and the benching him in favor of Bray when the schedule got easy.

This is another ‘must win game’ for CMR if he wants to retain his job. A mediocre 3-3 is not an acceptable record halfway through the 12 game schedule. We gotta win this one.

The 2007 and 2009 UT games were probably Willie Martinez’s magna opera. Georgia has a fairly good history in Knoxville; some of Munson’s top ten calls too. Let’s hope 07 & 09 were the aberrations, not the trend.

I’ve seen the stats. I acknowledge that our defense is much improved.
BUT …
Mississippi State has yet to score against a winless UAB. And Ole Miss likely would have been shut out by Vandy had the Commodores not eased up in the 4th quarter with a 30-point lead. At this point, any defense-related confidence really ought to be tempered with a seriously large grain of salt. This will be the first somewhat competent passing game that our defense has faced since Boise. Will I be surprised if we shut Bray down? Not really. But will I be surprised if he absolutely lights us up? Not at all.

The USA Today college injury list carries Thomas as suspended for the Tenn game and dated Oct 4. Is this a carryover from the Boise game? If so, the date is wrong. If not, does anyone know what the discipline is for?

Inching slowly but up. I am glad they decided to have the 2 bad quarters of Murray in the first half. Overall still shaky though.
