  1. Nothing like trying to throwing the focus from your crappy team to the opinion of a reporter.

The Nutter had one SEC win last year against UK. They might get one SEC win this year against UK.

I watched the first half yesterday. I couldn’t believe what I was watching. Ole Miss looked decent on offense and defense. I was not surprised by the final score.

Saban also wins football games which helps in his media fights.

True that. Note that this “journalist” continues to make himself part of the story with a follow up column. It is easy to do so because Nutt is losing. The same journalists didn’t want to to be kicked out of St Urban’s good graces, or Saban’s or even Spurrier’s earlier this year. Winning, indeed is the currency of power in college football.

That Houston, you have a problem. And that problem is that no Ole Miss fans are mad at the writer, because they figured it would be 49-10, too! And they saw you surprise Arkansas and then mismanage the game away. Then they saw you try to create a straw man to deflect away the anger. Well, coach, that’s weak. You are paid 2 million a year to coach, and this team is the return on that investment after 4 years. Man up and admit that. Don’t try to blame a writer. The money men weren’t talking about that writer on their way out of the stadium. They were listening to Arkansas fan thanking God that you weren’t their problem anymore.

Should Nutt have called out the reporter? No. Should the reporter have retaliated by writing a snarky column in response – ostensibly explaining why he should be left out of the story? Hell no. They deserve each other.

All Houston Nutt is doing right there is the same thing Mike Gundy did, the same thing Corch Irvin Meyers did, the same thing Steve Spurrier did, the same thing James Franklin and Todd Grantham did, even…they are discrediting the critics openly in order to rally the troops, cultivating their beloved “us versus the world” angle. Ain’t nuthin’ but a big ol’ show. Football Coach Psychology 101.

Anyone who believes almost every football coach not named Mark Richt at any time their mouths are open and a camera is within earshot is either gullible or an 18-22-year-old player on the team. (A very good reason we like Mark Richt so much…he doesn’t do this kind of drama queen bullshit.)

Losing all those players would tend to make you overrecruit, eh? You would think that extra players could fill the gap when this happens.

From long experience, Neal McCready is a clown. Nutt was wisely going after the lowest-hanging fruit.
