Tigerz be crazee, man.

These days, if being the architect of the nation’s 29th best offense is good enough to get you a 6-year, $7.8 million contract, maybe Todd Grantham’s agent has a point.

    Just as soon as a major program with deep pockets wants to hire him away. . . but with what seems like a record number of HC jobs open at very desirable programs, it seems like someone would come after him. Have they?

    The only reason I can see to throw money at Grantham is to pre-empt a return to the NFL.

    Clemson’s OC makes more than Mississippi’s new head coach. We better pony up with Grantham.

    This trend is going to break a medium to small school who tries to keep up w/ the big boys and makes a bad decision. Too many of these contracts come after the excitement of one good season.

    Morris’s contract isnt as good as it sounds. Half of it is in store credits at the Clemson bookstore. How many pairs of orange overalls and pictures of Howard’s Rock can one guy use, anyway?

    Part of his contract is that he also has to keep 8-Ball the mascot out of Bangkok whorehouses and opium dens until after national signing day.

    I just want to know why we have contracts in athletics anymore? There was time when a person was bound by the terms of a contract, it didn’t have to get revalued with every change of the wind. I know this thread is about the ballooning values, but much of that is driven by the threat of someone not honoring the first contract they signed. When you sign a contract for $1mm for ten years, you liked it at the time, and wanted the security it provided, so now you have no right to put a gum to your employer’s head because you became a hot item. Had it gone the other way you would expect them to honor the million per year you are no longer worth. No wonder businesses and governments are failing. Bunch of entitlement whiners whose word is only as good as the next offer. Street walkers have as much integrity. Wish the contracts I have with my stock broker were as fluid and only had upside.

    Man. The guy gets a gigantic raise after laying three gigantic eggs, including a 13-point effort against his biggest rival. He put up 17 points against an average Georgia Tech defense on a Thursday night which knocked CU out of national title consideration in the pillow-soft ACC, and then followed that up with a 13-point output against NC State’s titanic defense.

    I should have learned to coach the spread offense!

    The Chad Morris “6-year, $7.8 million contract” gift of the magi:

    (a) irritates Kristi Malzahn;
    (b) irritates McGarity;
    (c) irritates Macallanlover;
    (d) shows Spurrier again why Clempson is not USC;
    (e) makes Bobo think about getting an agent

    Wow. Six years.

    Considering how much they are still paying Coach Bowden, you would think they learned their lesson.
