“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
Wasn’t there a tape of Cam crying saying the money to go to AU was just too much to turn down?

What if it’s a family member and the player/athlete STILL does not know? That, to me, seems to be the loophole here. Did they close it?????

I’d say yes, if they define a family member as an agent.

This whole thing is a damn joke.
The SEC already has a conference rule (14.01.3.2) prohibiting family members from doing what Cecil did. The compliance staff and Slive didn’t have the balls to enforce it.
I know this because I was recruited as a non-revenue sport athlete 20 years ago. It was drilled into my head that if ANYONE asked for money for me, with or without my knowledge/consent, I would be declared ineligible to represent any SEC school.

And your post is right on. Next time it will encompass his step-mother and extended family. Until then prepare to see a changing definition for “Family”.

SCD is right. There never was a loophole to close. It’s all just a dog and pony show to cover up that they let Auburn off the hook for no real reason.

Don’t worry. Auburn’s already got their recruiting folks looking for the next loophole.

No wrong was done, I thought. If everything was copacetic, why a new rule?

The tattoo parlor operator who bought all the tOSU players equipment were never charged as “Agents”. Does that make it “OK” if you use tattoos and pot as currency? The answer is not for me, understand, but you never can tell how it may come in handy for recruiting as well.
