The most thankless job in academia

Anybody want to sign up to be Ohio State’s PR person?  I didn’t think so.

It’s about time to refill Gordon’s Aricept prescription.

Gordon comes up with his zingers while studying at the Gordon Gee Lavatory Complex.

Not sure we would get the better of the swap deal you advocate and you have already read at least one diatribe by me concerning our schemer. Gee isn’t a monument to academic professionalism when he regards the previous rule-breaking football coach as above his standards for office. I’m sure many OSU grads wince with his every word.

A-hole trading is risky at best and in this case would be a downright disaster. If you want to put them both in a bag, turn them loose in the Yellowstone backwoods to get et by a wolf and shit off a cliff;- then you may have a solution for both schools

      Hey Buddy
When you were skiing all winter quarter in Torts class we were working on proof reading and spelling in addition to the question of liability when there are spikes on the ceiling and no gravity.

There is always gravity. Ispo facto, Newton is responsible.

Jeez, Law School must be a breeze….

      • This is the thanks I get for keeping your butt out of fights….abuse. I’m not sure that the fact that you were right and he was a flaming idiot would have provided you with a defense.
Your remark about my proof reading skills reminds me that I took Eng 101 or 102 from,I’m not kidding here,Jan Kemp. So not only was she bad for football she was bad for my education.

Remarkably good for the rest of the university, though, interestingly enough. You should have gone to Ohio State–better fit there.

I like “ion firing”. I don’t understand it but it sounds really high tech.

One of my cousins has his PHD from Tech. If you are dum, er, if you would post your cell# on here I will have him call and explain “ion firing” to you. Make sure you have plenty of energy drink and vodka on hand, and a couple of hours to spare.

Didn’t we perfect a few “ion Firing” engines for planes about 25-30 yrs ago? They would be absent most of the heat signature that missiles follow. Wonder what happened to that? Someday I’ll Google it.

  6. Gordon Gee is a twit, but this latest quote of his made me laugh. Bret Bielema whining to the commish about Urban Meyer’s supposedly unfair recruiting practices was a total bitch move, and I’m glad Bielema’s getting called out for it.

Lord knows I’ve never cared much for Ohio State, and I like Urban Meyer even less, but I’m finding myself hoping he tears through the B1G and leaves the rest of the conference walking funny. It’s looking like they may be on the way back to the mid-’90s, when Michigan-Ohio State was the only game of real consequence and everyone else was just jockeying for mid-tier bowls. Which just makes things better for the SEC.

I don’t know about being Ohio State’s Public Relations guy, but it’s probably a pretty easy time to be the school’s Alumni Relations guy.

    Best quote:
“The 68-year-old also compared the NCAA investigation and subsequent penalties on the football program as a ‘yearlong colonoscopy.'”

No, but you have to admit that the conference itself has one heck of a PR person. How that group maintains the public perception that it’s somehow above the fray and holier-than-thou, I have no clue. There’s no statistical basis for it – in fact, the SEC leads them in several academic categories, including APR. But hey, the SEC’s the “just win, baby” and “basket-weaving conference,” right?

And those quotes from their followers and staffs should let us know the extent of their jealousy and envy. If they were above the fray they wouldn’t open their mouths. But then again, their mouths have been carrying them for years.

Gee is just another example of people who hang around academia so long they lose all touch with reality, and their common sense. Time for him to go to pasture.

I’m with Cojones. Be careful what you ask for when suggesting a swap for Gee. Quite frankly, I’m pleased with what MA has done with regard to the Medical School and Engineering School for UGA.
