Gator bait: looking for the mojo

I’m sure I’ll be mocked by the usual suspects for raising this point again, but there’s just something different about the mindset of your new Florida Gators, ladies and gentlemen.  Safety Matt Elam tells you something here:

“We’re predators. We’re looking to knock heads off or making people scared to run across the middle or do a post or run a sideline and see us coming,” Elam said. “We want to be the rude nation. People come in and we want them to be like, ‘Oh gosh, we might have a long night in The Swamp.’ Just being rude and making people afraid of us.

Granted, I don’t follow every word uttered by the orange and blue.  But I don’t recall guys like Reggie Nelson talking like this.

When you’re wishing that you can make other teams fear you, what does that say about where your head is at now?

Jax is going to be mighty interesting this year.

Under Tebow / Corch’s watch, didn’t Ealey get his eyes gouged? Seems like less than one standard deviation from common defense jabber to me.

Yeah, and he said no big deal after the game. The perp, however, sat himself for 1/2 game. The deviations in that game are never std.

Fear them?? Give me a break… The only fear is smelling the stench that emanates from that place. I’m actually glad we don’t have to travel to that stink hole of a town and get to play in Jax.

I would predict that Coach Boom will be feeling the heat on the seat after the end of this season. I, for one, can’t wait to see that little head of his turn the color of a tomato multiple times this year.

Did you mean that for Elam? Players that talk aren’t the ones that concern me, and I hate it when it is one of ours. I do like the way LSU and Bama have succeeded recently without all the trash talking. The playing field is the only place you earn respect.

Clearly you’ve never watched the Honey Badger. He makes Deangelo Hall look like Silent Bob. Just more misinf LSU/Bama fellating from our own fans. Didnt expect it from you, Mac.

Therefore, Honey Badger is Sideshow Bob

Honey Badger isn’t representative of what I have seen out of that program, we all have kids who don’t know when to zip it and act like they have some class. All in all, for two teams that have won recent SEC titles, they have conducted themselves respectfully. Have to be humble Puff, we all get our turn in the down cycle.

        I was referring to Elam.

    • I agree, Mike…

But, I can’t exactly fault the guy, because of course they want to be feared. This is obviously an echo of what he has been hearing in practice, and what every defense wants. He wants to get some swagger back, and Georgia isn’t exactly out of the woods on that front, although our defense in particular has gotten better. Let’s hope that both teams get better and an improved UGA team beats an improved UF team this year in Jax. 😉

Masiv…I can’t be that generous. I hope a much improved Bullfrawg squad beats the living hell out of a Gaytor squad that is struggling to make it’s initial first down of the season. Hatred is a wonderful thing.

Yeah, Mike, I might have misunderstood to whom your comment was directed… If so, my apologies.

No problem CDTT. You probably are not old enough to remember most of those UGA victories?

No, but many of us are Mike. In for a penny, in for a pound. Either accept the total record, or the most recent/current game, you can’t slice and dice to extract what only what suits you. Guess I shouldn’t say “can’t”, most Florida fans do exactly that, but you can’t and still be credible. Of course, Florida fans pre-1990s were like SC fans and didn’t really get football.

I can appreciate your feeling better about your program the past 20 years but it doesn’t give you the right to run down those who have been better, for longer. A little respect please, if expect any in return. This is a great rivalry spanning almost 90 years, let’s treat it as such. You have no more right to talk trash to us than we do to Alabama who has the most SEC titles and overall series lead. Have to look at the Big Picture.

No one denies that UGA owns the series record, scotch lover. Least of all me. UGA has 7 game lead in the series. That is bigger than it seems. It would take Florida 20 years to take the series, even if they dominate and go 7-3 in each of the ten years. Hell, if Florida goes 6-4 every 10 years, it will take more than 30 years.

That said, UGA had two periods where they dominated. Prior to the 50s, UGA was 22-5-1 in the series. They also won the first 6 games in the series. And in the Dooley years, where UGA went 17-7-1. Those streaks are hard to overcome.

We are going to give it our best shot. Hopefully this year starts another nice streak for the Mighty Gators

We understand and written like a loyal gator. You don’t mind if we wish they step on their dicks in their haste, do you?

By the way, I saw much of the Dooley dominance when FU was an afterthought on our schedule. While I enjoyed that immensely, for a part of that time I think Jake Scott and Bill Stanfil enjoyed it even more immensely-er.

I was an adult for most the the painful Dooley years. As you might imagine, I have enjoyed the post Dooley era immensely.

You are right, these things go in cycles, sometimes more severe than others. Perspective has to over the longer period while recognizing the ups and downs. Never understood all the crowing in CFB , from any one team to any other. Nor have I ever seen it not bite the trash talkers in the butt. Every dawg has their day, here’s hoping the sun is just beginning to climb on UGA’s day in JAX

I wouldn’t give a squirt of my best piss if Florida was on fire. In other news Auburn is 7-3 against Bama in there last 10 games. Bet you didn’t see that coming?
