Look at the bright side, Arkansas – at least today somebody thinks beating you is t-shirt worthy.
You might want to hope that sentiment holds up at the end of the year.

“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23

Given the choice, John L. – a tough old coot who most likely was waterboarded at Michigan State – selected waterboarding over being tortured with this post-mortem rendition of United We Stand Divided We Fall

This is not their first rodeo. A few years ago, Alabama fans on their way to the Independence Bowl were greeted with this billboard.

Yep. It’s just gonna a the battle between 2 teams beaten by ULM.

While I don’t think Arky are going to be world beaters, this lost isn’t as embarrassing as it appears at first blush. ULM employed the sensible strategy of almost never punting, which not only maximizes your chances of winning, but also maximizes variance – meaning you can get lucky (and also unlucky, but who cares? They aren’t expected to win anyway, so an extra couple TDs in the final score doesn’t matter).
Every underdog should employ this strategy, and it should not be so surprising when major upsets are pulled. I think we’ll see an uptick in these going forward as more cupcakes realize it’s almost a no-lose proposition.

Actually, it looks like they did punt several times – I imagine in 4th and quite long contexts – but the point is they attempted 7 fourth down conversions, many of which would not be attempted under conventional wisdom.

A win next week puts ULM in first place in the SEC West.

The ULM game was great, love to see David rise up and slay Goliath occasionally. But the real story is how many thousands of quotes about UGA’s schedule have been blown up by this one, single game? Answer: all that were written. And how many arguments over pre-season polls have been based on phony assumptions by that game, and a few others where highly rated teams were either beaten, or scared by “nobodies”. Polls before October should have no numerical positions assigned. The pre-season polls skew the voters’ ballots all year because of the earlier votes based on nothing but speculation.
Arkansas has been claiming an improved, tougher defense for years and the defense always seems to let them down. They were partially exposed last week, and this week overcame a 28-7 deficit….most of which had little to do with their QB’s injury.

I wish I could say that I agree with you on this.

If I understand you, you think they will continue. If so, I agree with that. My point was UGA was labeled with a soft schedule because of the lack of any of the, perceived, big three in the West. Arky obviously isn’t one of those now which blows up the argument. If we win the East, we have to play one of the other two so we only “dodge” one team felt to be a power. They cannot go back and now say we are dodging Miss State, but they turn out to be the tougher game between Auburn and Arkansas.
Historically the 3 best teams in the East had to play the three best in the West. SC was lucky to get Arky as their every year rival in the West compared to us having Auburn, TN having Bama, and UF having LSU. You cannot make a new case because Arky gets overrated, or Auburn sucks a couple of years.

Yep, Beat Bama/LSU and then we can kiss the scheduling BS goodbye… I sure hope we get to see that happen.
