The folks who cast the Coaches Poll ballots The SEC football information directors are predicting a third straight trip to the SECCG for Georgia.
Were that to happen, the Dawgs would join Florida and Alabama as the only schools to make three straight appearances in the title game (UF went five times in a row, from 1992-6.) That would also make for Mark Richt’s fifth sixth time in the championship, second behind Spurrier’s remarkable eight. (Nick Saban’s currently tied at second.) Not bad company…
Correction, Senator: it would make for Richt’s 6th time. 02, 03, 05, 11, 12, 13

And his ’07 team actually tied for the SEC East title but lost the tie-breaker to play in the SECCG to UT. He’s outright won or tied for the SEC East title 7 out of the 12 years he’s been at Georgia.

Oops-that’s 6 out of the 12 years he’s been at Georgia.

Remember when some were serious with that statement? It makes the meme even funnier when thinking back to the Neanderthal Brain Game that was eventually a shout-down. Since it was so long ago and forgotten, I’m sure no one’s toes are being stepped on by my statement.

I’ll admit I was on the “we may need to fire Richt” bandwagon after the 6-7 2010 campaign followed by the 0-2 start in 2011. I do feel I was mature about how I approached it, but I was wrong that it was best for the program. I’ll admit it.

Both sides got a little out of line during that time frame. Glad we didn’t follow in Florida’s footsteps with the Zook thing. Glad we didn’t turn our program into a circus like uT did theirs.

I’m eternally grateful to the Tennessee football program for making me thankful for the head coach Georgia does have. I’m also grateful that Tennessee went ahead handed Dooley the Lesser a head coaching clipboard before we were foolish enough to do so.

I wanted Richt gone during that time, said it here many times and anywhere. Was I wrong to want him gone then? Certainly not. His 4+ year stretch (06-10) was certainy worthy of being canned. However, he did prove me wrong in correcting his path and rebuilding the foundation of this program over the last 2+ years. Good for him and for UGA. Sitting in the GA Dome last December with my son was one of the greatest football experiences ever (excluding the outcome). And that was due to Richt.

We went 10-2 in 2008? I mean, I tried to block all three losses that season out of my head, but I’m wondering which one doesn’t count here?

The Georgia Tech loss was exceedingly painful. It has …… left me impaired and in denial. I don’t mention it because my brother in law a Tech and Wisconsin grad mentions it enough for both of us. As an upside. That season in the annual Ga vs. Ga Tech family flag football game we spanked them….soundly. Molly Dolly Dawg scored twice. I have retired from the series because of knee as well as from my sons and wife’s insistence and Molly has a bad hip. We are undefeated during my tenure though. I prefer to look at it that way. (Molly is a AmStaff/Bulldog mix and wears the flag girdle and is able to run with a football in her mouth. Yes she has a big mouth…. but short legs. lol)

So you screwed up and left off 1 loss in a 10 win season. Big deal! Your point was correct. CMR only has had 1 bad season (2010 at 6-7). 8-5 isn’t a bad season, it’s just not a good enough season to keep up with the high expectations that CMR has conditioned in the UGA fanbase. How short our memories have become. I remember well the Goff days when we couldn’t sniff winning 8 games. The UT faithful would sell their souls for 8 wins now. Skeptic is FOS.

I’ll wait until they play’em all before I see where the 2013 SECCG is in CMR’s ledger. Can we get those people who predict all this to buy a few lottery tickets and tell us their winnings?
What is the status of the baseball coach hire and the program. Good to see Ole Miss Vandy LSU South Caroilina and Florida in the regionnals Maybe some day we will see the DAwgs there agains.

Yeah, the early expectations seem to galvanize the beasts when it doesn’t fall the way predicted. All of it is Pome ‘d Rue and puts unnecessary pressures on players and coaches. We can pull for them with our hearts, but to expect the wins because pundits can’t think past the year before (or several years in FU’s case) and imagine any other scenario isn’t a mark against them. It would be against us for believing those predictions and then holding the team responsible for fulfilliing the predictions .

The Ole Ball Coach many indeed get 9, but Colonel Sanders’ finest will have but two and still no outright SEC Championships in that count.

Now where is the presser on the Diamond Dawg coach hire? Maybe someone on CMR’s staff might have to switch over to the diamond after the game and bowl.
