Next time, Ole Miss, you might want to read the fine print. (And don’t forget to thank your new broadcast partner.)
If a game falls in the Longhorn Network and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
Filed under ESPN Is The Devil, It's Just Bidness
Wow. Sounds like Texas won’t have a good nonconference game ever again. Either that or the LHN will flop because all of those games will be shown on ESPN

I agree and would think this would overall be a net-negative for Texas. Out-lawyering a likeable, up&coming kid in a room full of your peers doesn’t lead to a lot of future deals.
And, throwaway line: Ole Miss got Bjorked

Agree, why EVER schedule TX home/ home?

The savvy ADs of schools with some sort of pull will definitely put anti-LHN clauses in their future contracts.

Ole Miss, how about you grow a pair and say to Texas, “If you do this you’ll be playing an intra-squad game ’cause we ain’t showing up!” Sure there might be litigation but I also see potential defenses for Ole Miss (like fraud in the inducement perhaps).

How could there be fraud when the LHN didn’t even exist at the time the contract was signed?
LikeLike
That’s the fraud. Texas knew there would be a Longhorn Network and didn’t tell Ole Miss. The fact that Texas put the subject clause in the contract when there wasn’t a Longhorn Network at the time is evidence of intent to defraud by Texas.

I’m somewhat disappointed in your comment Senator. You lawyer types are supposed to be good at detecting that fraud and misleading stuff. There is something wrong, find it please!

? Not sure why you would be disappointed in Bluto. Lawyering can get pretty diversified……..just sayin’

Maybe Ole Piss can just pay their way out of it and screw the WWL in the process. Uh on second thought that might be like shooting your foot off.

They would, but they’ve already allocated that money for the incoming recruiting class.

That’s OK. Auburn paid FSU not to play them when Tuberville became coach. Ole Miss has a precedent!
And the Mayor’s Lawyer comment makes sense to the naive among us. What’s missing, Bluto? While knowing you will avoid a pissing match with another Lawyer on here, it’s still fun to poke the bear.

By the way, the Senator long ago pointed out the holes in creating the egotistical LHN and predictions that it would come to no good were made far and wide on this blog. Fuck’em.

That is why your accountant / CPA should review the contract before or with your “alleged lawyer”. Somehow they always see the short-term and long-term money situation. Perhaps the viewing audience for Mississippi approximates the population of Mississippi. Doubt if MSU, Texas A&M, or LSU gives a damn.

Numbers. There are more 5-A schools in Houston, Texas than the entire state of Mississippi. Mississippi only exceeds Vermont, Wyoming, Montana, and Maine in rural population. Explain why those kids out of metro Atlanta went to Ole Miss?

Serious question: Do SEC schools blackball Texas as an OOC opponent for some period of time as a result of this?

Actually, I think Texas is doing this on purpose to stick it to the SEC. They do not want to play SEC schools because it helps strengthen the conference and A&M too.

If I’m at Ole Miss I turn it around. I invite a bunch of top recruits from the state of Texas to the game and remind them that playing at Texas gets you seen on the Longhorn network by hundreds of viewers while playing at Ole Miss puts you on CBS to play for millions of viewers. I would make this a big deal to amy potential recruit in the state of Texas, you know the Aggies are.
