I love how Mike Slive makes it sound like the conference’s struggles with scheduling are kind of like dealing with a random act of nature, instead of something that was engineered by a poorly thought out expansion move.
Question: What’s the hardest part about juggling future SEC schedules?
Slive: “We try one (scenario), and there’s a knot. We try another one, and there’s a big knot – whether it’s permanent (games), whether it’s traditional games or whether it’s too many games. At some point in time, we’re going to have to unravel one of those knots and just make a decision.”
I’m guessing Slive isn’t using “we” in the imperial sense there. They’ve had three years to arrive at a consensus and it doesn’t feel any closer to a resolution now than when the train wreck started. How many more Destin meetings do you think there will be where they’re still trying to hash out the details?

“How many more Destin meetings” is a good question. Given the lack of results under Slime, perhaps we can infer that being at sea level impairs thinking for people who work in Birmingham. The crashing of waves obviously makes it difficult for da commish to hear the fans.

Who are these fans you speak of. Oh you mean the Extras that have to pay to get to be in the background of our TV shows. Hey we don’t have to pay the cast why shouldn’t we made the Extras pay. This is the greatest business plan ever.

This is an excellent point. TV is where the real money is. The people in attendance are just part of the show. Similar to the crowd at the Late Show or the Tonight Show.

Well, Mike, given that this is a situation you created because you did such a bad job negotiating the TV deal the first (and second) time, I don’t have much sympathy for you. The schedule worked just fine before we brought in Missouri and Texas A&M so we could divide the same amount of money 14 ways instead of 12.

Stupid question, I know, but geographically, what the heck is Mizzou doing in the Eastern Division? Times are tough. They really expect people to travel there?

Midwesterners remind me of the way southerners were 35 years ago before we got so infiltrated by Yankees from the northeast. Really nice, good, salt of the earth people. I have relatives in Iowa that I almost never get to see. I had to be in Des Moines on business so I called one of them up to say hello and to arrange a time when I could visit in the small town not far away where they lived. They set up a family gathering at their local church with all of the wives bringing a covered dish and we had a family dinner together. They really made me (an “outlaw” from Georgia) feel welcome.

Looky here now; this computer fiasco has gone on long enough. You mean in three years, a computer person has not found a way to untie this modern Gordian Knot? Gee. Sound familiar?
Could be that every time it has been untied, the Les and Steve Show tie it back because the solution(s) don’t fit their tastes? Maybe that’s the problem with the publishable solution.
